Which Vendor's Bulbs Performed Best for You?
Comments (12)I purchase bulbs mostly from John Sheepers/Van Engelen, high quality bulbs, excellent service and reasonable prices. Have also ordered bulbs from High Country Gardens and Bloomin Designs Nursery and was pleased with the quality and service. Two orders of bulbs from WFF produced opposite results. Bulbs of Fall-flowering Crocus were very good quality and every one of them bloomed, but their advertised mix of several species, produced only two species and only 3 bulbs of one of those. A second order of Sternbergia lutea was a disappointment. From an order of 25 bulbs, only one produced a bloom the first year and none the second year. Only about half produced foliage last year. I no longer order from B&B Bulbs. My last order was for a large quantity of spring-flowering bulbs to be used as a fund raiser for my garden club. We agreed upon a ship date in late September (confirmed in writing) and when they didn't arrive on time, a call to them revealed that they had arbitrarily rescheduled shipment for late November, the recommended planting date for my Zone, they said. At my insistence, they agreed to ship the order "as soon as possible", but they still arrived too late for the sale. I also detest having a charge placed on my CC the moment I place an order. They claim that is to "reserve" your bulbs. How can one "reserve" bulbs that they don't have and won't receive for months! MO...See MoreWhat Has Been Your Best 'Surprise-! It Survived' Plant?
Comments (18)Like others, I wasn't sure I could grow clematis but I've got a dozen growing here and there and all are thriving. I was determined to try growing them because my mother loved them. She was convinced she couldn't grow them but I found one down in a corner of the garden that now blooms profusely since I cleared the weeds away from it. Another leap of faith is daphne. I have the perfect spot for it so I planted a tiny one from Bluestone Perennials and this is its 3rd year. I mulch it over the winter but other than that it gets no pampering. Another Bluestone winner is Lenten rose. It has tripled in size since I planted it last May....See MoreWhite Sewing Machine Company Sent Me a Manual!! FREE!!
Comments (22)According to Wikipedia: "The White line of sewing machines was consolidated into the lower end Husqvarna Viking brand . . . New "White" branded sewing machines models have not been manufactured since the Husqvarna spin off in 2006. Husqvarna Viking, Singer, and Pfaff brands are now all owned by SVP Worldwide. Though not advertised, SVP provides all of their user manuals for all of their brands including the "White" brand through the Singer brand website." Going to the Singer website and putting "1505" into the search engine for sewing machine manuals, I came up with this: White 1505 manual in PDF They're all there. Every model anyone ever asked for on this thread has a manual you can find using that link. Here is a link that might be useful: Search Engine for FREE White/Singer/Husqvarna/Pfaff sewing machine manuals...See MorePower Company sent me a big box of energy saving stuff
Comments (14)The thing to be careful about with toilet tank devices is that they not block the movement of the float arm or the flapper valve at the bottom. Not infrequently the local regulatory bodies (California Public Utilities Commission in my area) require the companies they regulate to offer various kinds of rate programs, rebates and incentives to encourage energy conservation measures. Whether it's for purchase of Energy Star appliances, adding insulation or new windows, buying more efficient HVAC products, time of use rates, etc., etc., these are things they're told to do. The costs are including in the rate base, meaning, all customers pay for it. Watchme, if you're in PG+E territory, they have always had conservation rebate programs over the years, as well as distributing bulbs and other such things....See Morectreynard
