Oath5, what are flevos? This is definitely some type of old southern variety. Today, I was driving around back roads and found it naturalized throughout the woods near where the houses begin, coming out of the swamp.

I've googled for heirloom gladiolus, and can't find anything like it, though.

I found one that is very similar. The name is "Fiesta".

Wow, that's really close! The yellow in mine is almost green. And the flowers are smaller and further apart. But this is a good start. It's driving me crazy, I admit! I feel the need to identify this old glad. I am now noticing it in older yards.

Both seem to be hibrids of G. cardinalis.; but neither is the species because in the species the blotch in the lower lobes is white. They are likely crossed on G. virescens, which has green flowers.

Thats what mine looks like,the parrot glad.I live back in the woods& are some naturalized by one of the fishing ponds.I dug me about 6 and have them in yard.They have set seeds this year.
Becca~Has yours ever set seeds?I wonder if they grow same or how long from seed till bloom.they did real well with all our rain this year,guess yours did too from the hurricanes.

Last year I let them go to seed, but didn't try to germinate. Don't know how they do.

Does anyone out there have the yellow form of dalenii or what was called G. primulinums that is supposed to have naturalized in The South.
