Any corn can be eaten as immature (roasting ears). Whether you want to or not is a matter of taste. Seneca Red Stalk is a flint type, so it should make good cornmeal and grits. It major use as you stated is as an ornamental. Not only large multicolored ears, but red husks and stalks as well.

Seneca offered some seeds for sasbe earlier this season. By the time I posted, the best were already spoken for. Seneca made a point of letting me know that only two were left, and they were old seeds, giving the option to decide whether my postage was worth it. When my SASBE didn't return on a timely basis, I checked in. Seneca responded promptly letting me know that the label to me had fallen off and the SASBE had come back to her. She kindly put postage on it a second time and declined my offer to send replacement postage. A kind and thoughtful trader. I'd trade again.

I'm not in Hawaii (except in spirit!), but I've successfully grown fantastic papayas in Texas just from what popped up on my compost! Why not just go down to an organic food store and buy an organic papaya there? It'll work! Even if it's not organic, hybrids tend to revert back to their older stock-- i.e. they're not "true to type," and will revert back to a heritage variety-- at least with tomatoes, anyway. I think papaya ought to be similar.
