It depends on when their shipping time is. I suspect they get their bulbs from aborad and therefore pool orders and get deliver all at once. I waited several weeks for my order to ship but that was in fall and the bulbs did arrive at normal time for planting. I think it took more than 3 weeks.

I am waiting as well. Last fall I had 3 orders from Breck's. 2 came quickly and 1 was much later than expected.

It depends on what sort of bulbs you ordered - summer-blooming types or spring-blooming types. Breck's sends out their spring-blooming bulb catalog a lot earlier than other companies. If you ordered daffodils, tulips, etc., you won't be receiving them until the fall.

Don't buy from BRECKS unless you want poor quality and worse service. If you browse the older pages of this forum you will see their reputation and get some ideas on who are reputable dealers.

McClure and Zimmerman, John Scheepers/Van Englen, Brent & Becky's, J&J Archibald, and Telos Rare Bulbs all have good reputations that they are interested in protecting.

I ordered Allium jade Eyes,Allium Roseum, and Allium Mountain Bells.Bloom time is late spring to early summer.I called them this morning, and they made an excuse about orders being sent from Holland and would take awhile, the customer servie guy said" you know, the country Holland". As if I was too dumb to figure that out.He said it would proabbaly be another two weeks, but after reading comments on here and gardenwatchdog,I told him if I didnt recieve them by then I was canceling the order as I have read comments online about shipping taking many months.I hate to cancel, as I was really wanting some of these.At least most of what I ordered went on the coupon, and I can call credit card company to cancel remainder if need be.he also said my order was placed April 19.

I only ordered from them and spent like 3 bucks ...the rest was free and it took FOREVER to come even though they were spring bulbs..I guess they only can get customers by giving 25 bucks off to even sell any.

Tammy, the alliums you have ordered should be shipped and planted in the fall for bloom next spring. The customer service guy sounds like a real ditz for not being able to tell you that. On the up side, I have ordered from Breck's using a coupon and gotten very good bulbs, so if you just sit tight til fall, things should be ok.

I think people are confusing the old management of BRECKS with the new. The quality of the merchandise I received from BRECKS in recent years has been very good, albeit a bit expensive if I did not have coupons. But quality of the lilies were great.

I ordered bulbs as soon as their spring catalogue came out. They came the end of April, which is a few weeks early for planting time. All of the bulbs looked great except for one that looked slightly dried up. The customer service lady was great and we chatted about growing Calla Lilies. They are sending me a new bulb and said I could keep the slightly dried one.
I would order from them again, and plan on it, when they have their spring sale.
They do get their bulbs from Holland (the country- Ha ha!!!, not Holland, Michigan)and I think they order the minimum so they don't get stuck with a bunch of bulbs at the end of the season. That is why it takes a little longer to get them sometimes, they may have to make an additional order.
I just got some bulbs from Germany, they took 6 weeks in the mail!!

Like another poster stated, the bulbs you ordered are for FALL PLANTING. Thus Brecks, as they should, won't be shipping them to you until fall. If you insist that they ship them to you now, it will be your own fault if you have problems with them.

They often offer discounts for very early ordering of fall bulbs, as do many other bulb companies. I've ordered from Brecks before with absolutely no problems as to shipment time or quality.

I will add that the Variegated Firespray tulips I ordered from Brecks were stunning and my wife has insisted that we order more. Brecks says that they are naturalizing, but I will believe that when I see it. If its true, I'll be thrilled.

They'll probably contact you and offer you an additional $5 off. They do check these threads. I had placed an order last year using the $25 coupon; I would have been billed .98¢, so I figured, what the heck. After not hearing anything after 6 weeks, I had emailed them. They did reply back promptly, and said I'd have my order by October 31st. Almost 3 weeks later I emailed them again. I received an email saying that my order wasn't received; and they couldn't tell me that the first time!?!?!?!
I had complained about it here on GW, and they contacted me telling me I could reuse the $25 and use an additional $5 coupon towards another order. Needless to say, I never took them up on it. I might try again, but I won't hold my breath...

I ordered a special sampler from them and it NEVER arrived, I repeat, it never arrived, they took our money and never sent us anything...
Dutchgardens is great and tulips and their service is pretty good, they send an invoice about a week before our bulbs arrived, and their tulips were beautiful, they came up great!!!!! B&B is also great too, they send us beautiful huge gladiola bulbs.....

I will give them a little more time, but even tho I dont have much invested, they will hear about. Including all the other forums i frequent.I am getting fed up with bad service from businesses.We bought a new fifth wheel last fall. There is a crack in the fiberglass now,so we took it in, and they took pics said they would send them to Monaco and see what was to be done. I asked when i could expect to hear from them. They said they would call me the next day.Well i waited over week, didnt hear, so i called. They had the nerve to say" well i didnt think you wanted to do anything about it". Well if that was true why did i bring it in and have them check it out and take pics. Jeesh, how dumb can you be. And this aint the first time.

Tammyinwv - You are completely missing the point here.

You ordered bulbs that aren't supposed to be put in the ground UNTIL FALL.

Therefore, the company WILL NOT SHIP THEM TO YOU until planting time. Which is what they SHOULD do. Normally, they receive the bulbs from Holland just prior to fall shipping time or, if earlier, keep them in cold storage until the correct planting time for your area (anywhere between September-November).

If you insist that they ship the bulbs to you now, you shouldn't be planting them now, so exactly what do you plan to do with them? Keep them in the fridge for the next 6 months?? And if they dry up &/or rot in the meantime, are you then going to turn around & blame Breck's?

I can't understand why you can't understand that even though you ordered & paid for the bulbs NOW - any reputable company will NOT & should NOT send them to you until fall planting time. If you insist on this to the point of maligning the company, & they do send them, & you do plant them now, & they just rot in the ground or don't grow - don't go blaming Breck's.

I admit I was frustrated anyway from dealing with another company that I couldnt trust,and after reading gardenwatchdog, and other bad reports I was getting a little edgy.But I still stated I would give them more time.I have read comments from posters before I dont totally agree with, but feel my negative comments arent necessary on here to keep this a constructive,helpful forum.

Tammy - I sincerely apologize if I sounded rude - that was truly not my intention.

I realize that you said you would "sit tight", but your last post then states that you will give them "a little more time & then they will hear about it". Chances are very good that you won't receive your bulbs until September-November. However, since you previously informed Customer Service that you would cancel the order if you don't receive them in 2 weeks - who knows what will happen at this point.

You might want to contact them again to clarify the situation.

Maybe I was being a little over sensitive.When the CS said it would be 2 weeks, I hadnt looked up what I ordered to see if fall planted.He is the one that said it would be 2 weeks.It just seems like most places I have to deal with anymore have very poor morals and cs.I get tired of being lied to.But I am going to give them a reasonable amount of time since i dont have much invested.If it was a lot I think after reading all these posts etc, I would cancel to be on the safe side. I appreciate gardenweb for all the assistance it has offered me in different matters during the time I have been a member.

I had a similar issue with Breck's this year. I ordered bulbs from them because of that $25 coupon, they took a long time to arrive and the bulbs were in poor shape. I ordered from Spring Hill, Hirt's and Van Engelen and all of them were better (and faster) than Breck's. Breck's bulbs come from Holland, so the shipping took forever (3+ weeks). I contacted "customer service" via email and received a form letter reply that had nothing to do with my question (this happened twice). When I called about my late order I was told they were unable to cancel it. My tulip bulbs arrived moldy, were mostly missing the onion skin stuff and there was at least one undersized one slipped in with each bag of ten. To be fair, the grape hyacinth bulbs seemed fine. They would have been very expensive without the coupon. The bulbs are in the ground now, so no word yet on the final results!

I did get my bulbs a couple of months ago. They were small, but didnt look bad, so we will see come spring.
