Sweet Caroline Sweet potato vine, how tender is it?!

I bought 2 sweet potato vines of a new variety, "Sweet Caroline" and planted them in containers with osteospermum, coleus and some heuchera. Our temps last night were in the low 40's or so. I know that a frost would kill them, but we were not even in the upper 30's, and the Sweet Carolines look limp. The coleus may lose a few leaves, but is alive, and the osteospermum is fine. The heuchera is a perennial that survived the winter so that will be fine. I put both containers in the garage for now as we are expecting possible lows tonight in the upper 30's. Just how tender is Sweet Caroline? Does this limp appearance mean ist's a goner? The tiny newer leaves look okay. Thanks!
