What would you do with seedling Amur maples?

I rescued ~6 Amur maple seedlings growing in front of our apartment building when they were weeding this spring, and have the opportunity to take a few dozen more if I want them. All are between 4-8" tall, single trunk seedlings and probably only a year or two old. I've never done bonsai before, and am open to suggestions on how to prune and train them into suitable subjects. I've considered single-trunk, low-branching trunk and forest designs, but am still unsure what might look best. I'll probably end up trying a few in each style and choosing the best two or three, since I have plenty of material to work with. Should I let them grow in deep pots a year or two and then chop them back, or can pot them in shallow pots and I prune them early on? Does anyone know of good websites showing Amur maple bonsai subjects? Thanks.
