Don’t update based on outdated things. Not saying you are but just remember this rule. Your home isn’t a time capsule unless you have a Victorian or other very strong period style (which I think you’d mention) . You aren’t going industrial or city vibe. But, with uber safe traditional choices, you keep your home in the past with an outdated look....even if it’s neutral. And that fails your goal of timeless as most things will.

White for the cabinets. I agree with @schnoodlemom. Give SW 7000 Ibis White a try. And don’t paint the edging on your counter. It’ll be fine. By the way, you can re-laminate your existing counter while keeping the substrate for very little money, if you are interested in making a change in your counter material.

Then go darker - Dovetail is on the same color range. Or go white? But really just shooting fish in a barrel here - best to show us floor finish and exact countertop to best pick.

The hardwood you hopefully have in an adjacent room, like the dining room. A nice medium deep brown Thus must ask..................what IS the flooring in the rest of your home? Also, what are the counters?
