Design idea needed for far corner of back lot
Comments (18)Your wooden fence appears to be tall enough to grow "Crepescule" which has very attractive dark green leaves and golden-apricot roses. It's re-bloom rate is very fast for a climbing rose. In Berkeley,California near my home, it is grown against an 8 foot tall wooden fence, successfully. I've espaliered "Cornelia" for a freind, to cover his 7 foot tall wooden fence. Cornelia" spreads 7 feet tall by nearly as wide but only 3 and 1/2 feet from front to back. It takes a few minutes to trim it back every season, but espaliering Cornelia shows off its graceful growth habit extremely well. I'd grow those two with perhaps a white rose, if there is room to brighten the area, - "Snowgoose" or a white Noisette. - Or a "Lamarque" which blooms white most of the year where I live, and light yellow during a few weeks, but this is a rose that has heavy "limbs" and will need more suppport, cross bracing on the corners of the fence, especially if there are strong winds in your area. If you want to cover more of the view of your neighbors, you could extend upwards by putting taller rebar arches c. 6 feet in front of the fence, and grow "Susan Louise" (c. 25 feet tall) between the arch and the fence and let both structures bear its weight. "Susan Louise" is a large climbing Tea- like rose (Hybrid gigantea) that bears very large pink and cream Tea roses during every season of the year. It is a large and impressive plant and covers a landscape with its' Old Garden Rose beauty. A neighbor grows it as a free standing bush, c. 25 feet tall and it looks like a tree from a distance, covered with large roses, fit for a fairy tale. vintagegardens.com sells this wonder of a rose. I love your space and can imagine it filled with roses, every season of the year. Luxrosa...See MoreStill need help with corner sink, opinions?
Comments (2)Rather than two mirrors that are the same, I think it might be more fun to do something like this: mirror collection Not these specific mirrors, necessarily, but a grouping of mirrors, perhaps hanging one or two from cord or chain, perhaps framed and various shapes. One should be large enough to be the main "viewing" mirror, but I think doing a collection would make the corner effect kind of disappear. You certainly could collect inexpensive frames and spray paint them all gold and antique them, then add mirrors....See MoreHelp/ideas building a corner sink cabinet
Comments (1)My 36" corner sink cabinet has walls, a back, and a floor. Additionally, there is a top & supports to support the weight not only of the sink, but also a sink full of water. Remember, corner sinks are not generally supported by cabinet walls...so you will probably have to build braces of some sort regardless of how you end up doing it (separate box or not). Comments (13)Have to admit when I first looked at your pictures I was shaking my head going don't do it, too tight and tough access. Upon reading further comments, I can see how that would be a convenient spot for the MW or toaster oven and other necessary kitchen items. My suggestions... have an extra plug put in this corner to facilitate all of the power you will need. Many cities advise having the frig on a different breaker from the other appliances, especially the MW. My GC recommended in our temp kitchen to have our frig and MW on different breakers as well. More ideas... Can you pull out the above frig cabinet to be closer to the front of your frig? We had it back like you have shown in previous kitchens and it was just messy. In our new kitchen it is lined up and gives us extra deep storage for wine racks and serving platters. To make accessing the upper corner cabinet easier, have you considered doing an open shelf instead of cabinets here? We did this in our previous kitchen and it was much easier to see what was where and reach it. I also thought about converting the base cabinet next to the frig into an open slot cabinet for cookie sheets and cutting boards until I saw that it is part of a lazy susan cabinet. Glass cabinet doors in this area would also visually lighten up this corner and help blend the frig and cabinets together. Is it possible to change the base corner cabinet to a slot cabinet and then the next cabinet have the deep metal pullout system that is available? I just think it would make it easier to access, but your cooking needs may vary......See More- 9 years ago
