Neighbor's huge addition ruins our privacy
Comments (45)I am now reading this and I know it has been some years. I hope you took care of your issue and I have the same. The dudes addition will look direct on to my backyard. It is not an addition from facing but to the side of the house that will face my entire back yard. We also have fence restrictions to build one high enough would not be possible. I am so pissed off at this that I will put my home up for rent....I mean rooms for rent and I will keep the garage for storage and move to my vacation home. Hmmm. This is the bay area and I could make a fortune not that I want this at all. 6- 8 people living there with cars on a court? Guess the dude will think again before he puts my back yard in full view of his home. I can not think of any way to block his birds eye view of my entire yard since he is builtding on the side of the house all along the side of my back yard. I do not want to be mean to other neighbors but I do not know what else to do. How did yours turn out...See Morelight sources for reading in bed: a poll
Comments (30)I sleep alone (except for a dog and a cat!), and I have a lamp next to my bedside on the nightstand. What I don't like about it is that I really have to reach up to turn it off when I am really sleepy. What I do like about the lamp is that it's tall enough to shed light onto the book. But I can't get it any closer to the bed without replacing my clock, which I like to have facing the bed. I'd like to hear more about those remote switches. I bought my matching lamps from PB years ago, and I love them. They are a tall wood base, with an antique white finish. The lampshades are handmade paper with pressed wispy ferns on them. They give a nice soft glow to the room, which is a warm yellow. I would really love sconces; but it would be a big expense and would require some extensive electrical work in my 60 year old house....See MoreHuge Weed Job: Encourage Me!
Comments (25)Alright people. I can hear you cheering here in Lexington. "Dill Forest" I have a small one, that's the least of my worries. At least the butterflies can use them. Weeded the small raised bed of Tomatoes and used newspaper to mulch. Cleared out an area that alaready has asclepias-es or asclepia-i and transplanted other pollinators.from the perennial bed. Redesigning that and pulling stuff out so the workers can get around later. Cut back the huge rhubarb so I wouldn't trip and break something. Looking at my poison ivy and feeling annoyed that I got it. Despite washing with tecnu it rashed up and is so itchy. I think I will douse myself in deet-spray and go weed for 10 minutes. Marie So here's a question As I said I'm re-doing my 20 year old perennial bed. It probably won't be touched until mid August. Could I put down the weeds I pull, cover wth newspaper, wet and wait? Will it add anything to the fertility of the soil or is two months not enough (or does it also depend on the size and toughness of weeds i.e. rhubarb)...See MoreIdeas for visually balancing this huge vaulted wall?
Comments (11)Thank you, Everyone! I did decide to draw the eye up to emphasize the vaut and skylights. I think my cat is happy with the result. The dining room portion stayed where it was originally because the internet modem was on the wall by the heat stove (see wood pile). We aded the entertainment center for more storage, then topped it with a fluufy cloud painting and an emormous clock. We used the industrial cables to good use to string a drop light chandelier over the dining room table where there is no recessed lighting up above....See Moreonthecoast1
