For my darker room, I had to darken up grey owl to get it to be the color as shows in so many online images. It might sound counter intuitive to make the color darker in a darker room, but the darker room washed it out to almost looking white (bleh!) so by going 50% the colors tons were much more prominent . You may want to try 50% darker version of Balboa mist...I'm actually planning on doing so for a very low light room in our house

SG, did you try darkening balboa mist? I am interested in doing the same. Wondering how darkened you went and what you thought of the results!

Did balboa mist show a purply pink undertone for anyone? Would like to use it for my hallway.

What kind of light do you have / where does the room face.
I have used balboa mist in my north facing foyer and living room. It looks beautiful and changes color during the day. Does not look purple or pink at any time.

I used Balboa Mist in my living room and in certain light I do see a pinkish lavender undertone. Not what I was going for although it’s a beautiful color but I had been hoping to do kitchen and bath in a gray with green undertones so not sure what to do. I feel like I’m stuck in the warmer beige tones now and I really wanted some color.

I used Balboa Mist in my master bathroom, with dark cabinets and tiles that seem to show gray/taupe in certain light. It works very well together, was afraid it might not be cohesive. I then painted master bedroom north facing in Edgecomb Gray. Both colors I feel show undertones of warmer beige. No lavender undertones.

Both rooms flow very nicely.

Have you heard of a color called Sea Salt? I wonder if that would flow with the Balboa? Also I used a white called Fundamental White and now wish I’d gone with the Dove instead. I’m wondering if it’s too white and that’s what’s pulling out the lavender look to it? I like Edgecomb glad to know that works with it. Had no clue gray could go in so many directions!!

I haven’t used sea salt but it’s slightly less brighter / lighter than balboa. Should flow with it if looking for different rooms.
I have used balboa in north facing living and a foyer / stair case that runs all the way up. I don’t see any purple pink undertones at any time of the day.
Have you looked at barren plains?

That’s a pretty color I might get a sample of that I hadn’t seen that before thanks! I might be the only one seeing the purple hue to it. I think it depends on the angle I see it from.

BM Pale Oak was the other one I tried.

Audra P. I agree, I had no idea certain grays flowed and had so many undertones and that it would actually work with dark chocolate stained cabinets, or my light cherry furniture in the bedroom.

I hadn’t thought about dark cabinets with that color that sounds beautiful! My house is old and very dated so this is a huge transformation. I was going with all lighter colors to get my house out of the dungeon lol but I may consider dark cabinets.

I am in the middle of a complete kitchen renovation. My cabinets and trim are all White Dove (BM) and I think we have finally settled on Balboa Mist for the kitchen walls. My island cabinets are Symphony Blue, a rich deep blue. The kitchen opens through a large archway to the dining room (we've opened up that wall). I'd like to do the dining room in a slightly different color to set it off. It is currently deep blue (a different blue!) but will need to be painted. Edgecomb gray looks almost exactly like the Balboa Mist, and I'm considering Summer Blue or Quiet Moments (slight green). The living room adjoining the dining room is a spring green, yellow undertones. Help!

Are those in BM ? Do you want the dining to be dark or light ? How about Trout gray or shale in BM ,will offer a dark and balance to balboa

Thanks Molly! The issue right now is, all I have is the empty room with fresh drywall and no lights! And the dining room is half covered with plastic. So I'm not sure it would be helpful.

@ Terri Grover - I am in the middle of a complete open kitchen and family room renovation. My cabinets and trim are all White Dove (BM) and Lower cabinets and island will be walnut or medium brown wood. We are thinking on Balboa Mist for the kitchen/ family room walls. Can I see your pics please?
