I interpreted brutuses answer "paint the inside of the doorway the same color as the first room you enter" as follows: I have a family room on one side of my kitchen and a dining room on the other. Both are painted the same color. As I enter the kitchen, I would paint the inside "doorways" the same color and once you are in the kitchen, that is a different color. You could reverse that and say what about when you come out of the kitchen, but you can't come out of the kitchen without having "first" gone into it, by way of one of the other rooms. The continuity of the color stays in tact. I think that answer also means it will vary by interpretaion and individual opinion of the flow of their space. I also questioned the continued use of white baseboards/trim. The contrast of the white baseboards remind me of the way I learned to color and always outlined in black, to keep my other colors within the lines lol. I decided to use a wood stain that matches the floors. It's time to color outside the lines... :)

My son wanted teal in his room too. It was a bit of a battle because at first he wanted this horrific lime green but don't think of limes when I describe this think of army green mixed with yellow and more of a puke lime green. So after waiting a long time I found a few more swatches to see if he might go in a new color direction. He fell in love with this IN YOUR face Teal color. It is from Behr. I love BM paints but I have to say this Behr paint went on fantastic. Primer in the paint and wow only two coats. The color is a bit loud but it works. It is called Intense Teal by Behr Now if this teal by Behr is still too much for you. I know, I know... Any pic in particular catch your fancy from the PB catalog? They list the colors used in the catalog & on their website they have a nice paint tool. The BM site also lists the PB colors since they make them & you can try them out in their interactive personal color viewer (you don't have to sign up). DS1 just saw a bedroom in the last William Sonoma Home catalog that her really liked w/ a nautical theme. The top 1/2 of the walls were done in a navy linen like effect & the rest was white.

I like the 2153 -50- desert tan. I think that family of golds looks good with your color. JMO I can't envision part two, couldyou post a pic?
