Small, narrow living room - help!
Comments (19)You are so welcome, laurensing. You are asking the wrong person for a rug suggestion that is subtle. It's not that I like crazy rugs, but I would go for something interesting. The sofa and art are a starter. For rugs, I do best on craigslist or estate sales, or anthropologie rugs on sale. You can find a quality wool handmade rug for a great price and just bring it straight to the cleaners. The cheap poly rugs are not appealing to me. You were very smart to start with a classic sofa design and color. Looks like the entrance goes right into the living room. If it's right off the street, be careful about a light rug or a rug with a light background, as it will get dirty so fast and a dark rug, especially without a design, shows every little piece of lint (drives me crazy). Here's an 8x10 from anthropologie https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/geo-megali-rug?category=sale-rugs&color=005&quantity=1&size=8%E2%80%99%20X%2010%E2%80%99&type=REGULAR I like this for your room also and might consider the garnet color which would be amazing on your wood floors, as it has that mahogany color in the rug. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/meralda-rug?category=sale-rugs&color=006&quantity=1&size=9%E2%80%99%20X%2012%E2%80%99&type=REGULAR...See MoreHelp with combo kitchen, dining room and living room!
Comments (16)I think that all of your furnishings work very well in your space with the exception of the shelving unit. Is it used primarily to display pictures or is it more for storage? I think that it appears more utilitarian rather than decorative. Could it be moved to another part of the house and used for storage? If possible you could then replace it with a more attractive, functional piece. Try thrift stores or CL to look for a hutch, China cabinet, bookshelves, chest, or table. It would depend on your needs. It would give your room a more finished look. Your home is very lovely....See MoreLayout for living room dining room combo
Comments (1)I would stay away from a sectional and go with a sofa and 2 chairs not matching to the sofa. That DR is going to be a problem you will need to go very narrow with a table to work in an 8’ space or you will need to push a table against the wall and only pullout when you need toyou could do a 36 x 72 table that would sit 4 nicely without pulling out You have lots of places for TV in the LR . Do you need more storage or some display I would suggest a Besta sytem for a wall with the TV maybe on the right hand wall. The sofa facing the TV and a chair on either side with a nice coffee table that layout works well for conversation and much more comfortable seating than a sectional....See MoreLiving Room/Dining Room Combo - design help!
Comments (1)Cute place, i see the challenge, but I am really against a sectional in this space let alone for guest to have to sit next to each other it creates a weird dynamic. I hope you are not planning to put the tv over the fireplace that would also be a neck breaker. I see the couch on the side the two red chairs. the tv on the wall with the lockers and 2 chairs to the dining room side....See MoreThe Classy Home
