Seagrass rug appropriate for dining room?
Comments (7)I have a high end flooring store and we also make custom rugs. We love selling seagrass carpet and rugs. I personally have it wall to wall in my home, including on the steps, along with area rugs. We also have it wall to wall in our store. I have trained 3 puppies on it and have had major spills. I find it cleans up wonderfully. I basically use two products, Woolite Oxyclean, which you can buy anywhere, and Capture (a Powder cleaner) which you can buy at Lowe's. You can totally soak any type of stain with the Oxyclean. Use a vegetable brush if you need to get any solids out of the crevices. Once the spot dries (and it can take a few days and look really bad while it is drying so don't worry) use the powder Capture to sprinkle in, to clean up any residues, then vacuum up the powder. I have kept all the Seagrass that I have looking new and some of the Seagrass is over 10 years old. Also, Seagrass is not expensive and looks great in all types of decor....See MoreBead board appropriate in these rooms?
Comments (1)It is sounding absolutely gorgeous. There are different shades of Travertine, and if you are planning on doing Navy, I personally would recommend one that is more gray than beige. I think the beadboarding would look lovely in those rooms. It can expand and contract with heat or moisture, and for this reason some people choose to use the vinyl version. When painted, it usually looks just fine....See MoreAm I crazy to put dining room table against one side of the room?
Comments (12)Have you considered putting the table against the window the long way (see sketch in blue). There would be 40" of walk space if the hearth is 18" into the room. An indoor/outdoor is a great option that will anchor the table, add color as well as be the base for the room. I would also install either a long rod with stationary window panels on either side or short rods on either side of the window. The short rods would also have stationary panels. This will visually complete the windows. I would put an accent chair in the corner on the fireplace wall by the entry with an art piece above. A built-in bookshelf cabinet could be installed to the right of the firelace. Add a focal piece above the fireplace and you're all set!...See MoreNeed help in picking the appropriate dining table for the small space
Comments (24)It will be difficult to find a traditional round table that will fit both table and chairs in that space, I think. A 3'7" diameter table - which is considered fairly small - would barely allow people to sit at the table. But, a "pub" table is smaller, and is usually bar height (and less expensive sets, also.) Hopefully you aren't needing to seat more than 2 or 3. Try searching that term on google, you should have examples come up from Ashley, Overstock, Amazon, Walmart etc - both rectangular and round. Your other furniture & room elements are a mix of modern, and more vintage looks (like the ceiling fan, floor lamp, little table and newell posts), so I would look for a set that is simple clean lines. I love the blue on your walls - a multi colored with blue print would be so pretty in that TV alcove!...See MoreJoe Nicklo
