AnnKathryn, I wasn't able to find your Decolov vanity. By any chance, do you have a model name? KMCG, I have seen that vanity and I like it but didn't think it would work. I'll give another look. I exchanged the floor tile today. I thought I would use the Yakarta Floor in the color pictured above, but the Blanco has grey tones and it didn't work. Instead I went for a light gray tile - after much agony. I am thinking about getting this vanity American Standard Casada 30" but it doesn't come with a top or faucet so it's beginning to run a little high - along with everything else.

Here's mine. Creamy slipper chair & ottoman, silk WT (goldy olive colour) and wall colour is BM Inukshuk but I'm repainting a goldish brown, maybe BM Decatur Buff or Norwester Tan or maybe Lennox Tan. Using scarlet red as an accent colour. Hardwood floor, still need rug.

Thank you for all of the great feedback! I went sofa shopping yesterday. I went to Thomasville and saw a couch that I liked called the Benjamin. I know that Thomasville is only a mid level quality but I also have to consider that my two little kids who will standing on it (now matter how many times I tell them not to do it :)) I am also going to take a look a leather sofas made by Hancock & Moore since that they have such a great reputation. A local retailer in my area (Bucks County PA), Hendrixsons, sell them.

No one was insulting you personally. Remove yourself from your objects. Frankly it's one of the first things we artists have to learn. Not to take it personally. And it wasn't an insult. If you took it as a personal insult, then I apologize. It was meant as a comment on how your house would look painted a dark color. This comment was said after many attempts, including my explaining why we needed to see the surrounding area as to why you need to give us more information. Color doesn't work in a vacuum and even after explaining it you posted your one inspiration photo which would look nothing like your home in your setting. You posted a home with lots of surrounding vegetation when your home is on a flat, treeless lot. That affects how the color would be viewed. Additionally, designing a home is not take a piece from here, and a piece from there and hope it all goes together. It reminds me of the beginning art students who go in and do the main subject first and then come onto art boards to ask, "I finished my main subject, now what should I do for the background." The problem with that way of working, like with a house is that all elements have to work together. So now anything they choose for the background will affect all the work they have already done and it will change how their subject looks. That is why we asked for your elevation drawings. For example, I would not paint a rustic house in the woods looking out on the mountains in Colorado yellow. However that rustic home would look fabulous in the brown you posted. My sister just painted her home in the mountains of NC green and it fits into her landscape beautifully.
