Design Dilemma: Suggestions needed for odd-shaped wall
Comments (17)Hi Dough71, Beautiful fireplace, love the brick! I understand your thoughts about fireplace, wall units, etc. I think it really depends on the piece(s). And actually, depending on the unit, it could be interesting to intentionally match up the two. The wall unit would be on another wall and has another purpose, but sort of mimicking the fireplace could actually be interesting with the right piece. But there are so many ways you can go. You can find a style or build one in just about any way you would like. The sky is truly the limit. Plus, I see you have a great eye. Love what you've done in your place, already - furnishings, etc. Beautiful space. You won't have any problem finding the right combo for your wall. And you can light up just about anything these days, it's an LED party. ;)...See MoreNeed help with an odd accent wall in open dining/living room
Comments (1)Valspar has identified coordinates for Pale Bloom. Choose one of the darker colors for the stair wall. Be aware that the wall and your kitchen cabinets are going to abut visually, so choose both colors carefully. I like the third box...the Navaho but darker color on the strip with the green for stair wall. https://m.valsparpaint.com/color-detail.php?id=2667 Example of green with brown...See MoreNeed help with odd, asymmetrical wall behind bed
Comments (7)This is how the previous owners had the room configured, but we’ve tried every arrangement with the bed. It won’t fit on the wall where the bed used to be, as their bed was a queen and ours is a king. We are stuck in this spot. The curtain idea is interesting! One possible issue we’d run into with that is the door to the closet we have on the right side of the bed....See MoreOne odd Bedroom corner: any suggestion
Comments (3)Are you the only occupant of this bedroom? If so, I would put the bed parallel to the window but not centered on that long wall. A queen mattress is 60" wide x 80" wide (add inches depending on your bed frame). The bed could be 30" from the bathroom wall (small chest/nightstand) leaving approximately 4 feet on the side closest to the window. Since your room is so narrow and gets even narrower down toward the window end, this layout also helps ease the tightness at the wall jog outs. This larger space near the window might then accommodate a compact yet comfortable chair to take advantage of your view. On the other hand, you could move the bed closer to the window, leaving a larger area closer to your closet for dressing. Since your bathroom vanity is so small, you might want to add a dressing table on one or other sides of the bed for applying makeup and doing your hair. Without more information about you and your lifestyle, it is difficult to be more specific. If you'd like to be able to visualize layouts, get yourself some graph paper and cut out pieces of furniture to scale. This will give you a better sense of what each scenario would look like. Good luck with your new home!...See Morearcy_gw
