Children's cancer quilt

This is the third quilt that will go to Brent's Place which is a long-term home-away from home for families and children with cancer. The Colorado Lions club helps sponsor the facility and see about 120 children each year. It finished 50" x 72". So far every one I have made is from my stash! I have a soft spot for children with cancer because my great-nephew was diagnosed with cancer before he was a year old. For his first birthday, he got surgery and radiation. He turns 16 this year and is doing amazing! He carried the quilt my mom made for him for years - and still has it!

What a bright, beautiful quilt. Some child will cherish it. I love the backing too. I think it's so important to have a backing that compliments the quilt, and you successed wonderfully in choosing this one. Very nice work, Sue.

It’s beautiful, Sue! What a great cause. I’m so happy to hear your nephew is doing great!

I plan to find a local charity in our new town where I can donate quilts. I realized while packing to move that we have plenty of quilts!

Thank you for that info, Patsy..I wouldn't have thought about that. That's a good point. Beverly~ The idea of a tote bag is great, too. Whichever quilt I decide on doing, I will try to make a matching tote bag as well. I haven't made one before, but it's worth a try. I'm sure it'll give her something to laugh about, anyway. :O) Kathi~ Thank you for praying for her. I appreciate that, and I know she will too. Also thanks for letting me know that a pink ribbon might upset her. I wondered about that, but wasn't sure. I won't get the quilt done this week, like I had hoped I would. But that's OK. I still haven't decided on fabric, either. I won't get a chance to order any until next week, but until then I'll use my time by looking at different things & deciding what exactly to do. It's a great quilt. I love how bright it is. You did a great job.

I like making children's quilts. They are all so bright and cheerful. My favorite quilt to make for children is an I Spy quilt. I have tons of I spy fabric, much of it is already cut into squares (I used to belong to an I Spy swap group.)

If anyone wants to make an I Spy quilt (or two or more), just let me know. I have several sets of 6.5 inch ABC squares (a is apple, b is for bumblebee), I have tons of 5" assorted and 6.5 inch assorted.
