Just can't decide what to do with these spaces in my front yard
Comments (2)The magnolia was the most worthwhile addition, as it breaks up the front of the house (in the view shown). Truth be told, there are a dozen things I would change, starting with the balls marching up to the one undersized window right in the middle, and emphasizing it. Anyway, if you like daylilies try to get some evergreen ones like garden centers get from Monrovia nursery as these may be more tidy of leaf than the ones that die down each fall. Your existing garden is so tidy I think you might be bothered by the sloppiness of those in the latter category. Otherwise, maybe get more of the successful red rose and plant those where the existing one is. Make your own from fall cuttings of the specimen you have already if you have to. The creeping junipers look like they have picked up that blight they get and may now go on to die out, giving you a new space for a big sweep of daylilies or some other change. You might want to bring in a designer or consultant to review the existing plantings and tell you how you can make the garden more like what you want. And since, as is often the case the front of the house is not symmetric you should think about discontinuing the matching, evenly spaced pairs of trees and formalizing maintenance shearing of the trees and shrubs. Formal shearing and symmetric balance don't go with asymmetric architecture of your house....See MoreCan't decide which color range would work best. Need Advice
Comments (3)You know I've got the Monogram oven and the Advantium oven and ordered a stainless dishwasher at the same time. When the dishwasher was installed I decided that stainless was too hard to clean and just doesn't look that great in my kitchen (atlhough I have oak cabinets and not white). I ended up buying a black panel for it and then a Jenn Air black french door fridge that has the same stainless handles as the Monogram. My cooktop however is stainless. I think it will all go together just fine although the cooktop isn't in yet. For me the ovens make it possible to go either way since there's so much black. I'd say go with what you like best visually and you'll be fine. Britt...See MoreWe can't decide what to do.
Comments (6)If you want it on the wall, you can get paintable cord covers to tuck the cords into, and then you can paint it to match the wall. CordMate makes a bunch of different sizes that have peel-and-stick backs (easy to install), and Home Depot sells them. https://www.homedepot.com/b/Electrical-Home-Electronics-Cable-Management-Cord-Covers/N-5yc1vZc65e If you do that, I'd center the "raceway" (that's one of the things those cord covers are called) under the TV and run it straight down to the baseboard, and then have the cords travel sideways. Here's an example of one that's made specifically for TVs (and the cord cover is wider than most of the others)! https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Flat-Screen-TV-Cord-Cover-A31-KW/204412610 And I'd try to move that black rectangular thing (and is that a video-game controller under it?) over underneath the TV as well. You could put wall-mounted shelves under the TV and run the cord-cover behind them, and then put a combo of decorative things and video-game consoles there. You could use those vertical slotted standards and brackets (cut the brackets to be the size you want so they don't stick up very far above the top shelf). I notched my shelves like that, but made the center notch a bit bigger to accommodate the wires, and then I only needed a cord cover in a small area....See MoreCan’t decide what light fixture to hang over this kitchen table.
