Hi jen - just saw your thread today. I had looked into the Wayback machine awhile back because I was hoping that all the finished kitchens would be archived there; no such luck. It does seem to have stopped archiving the kitchen forum in Feb 2005. But even so many of the threads before Feb'05 are missing (and most of the links inside the threads are non-functional. I have a long list of unusable finished kitchens without links). The best way to find an old thread is to search google's cache. I searched google for "Cabinetry Direct jenswrens" and came up with a few hits, but not the thread you're looking for. You are wise to ask questions becasue you have a serious systems issue priority. This is classic example of why everyone needs to get your appliance specs and HVAC and electricians involved before beginning to design, especially if you want the commercial sized gas ranges. (Which you did.) Not every home can or should have gas or oversized appliances. Choosing the commercial lines adds huge costs for ventilation safety. Most people have no idea that a fan is as important as any other appliance. Call a few MORE HVAC companies and get them out to look and get some quotes. I cannot imagine any one with a gas ticket is putting in a line without checking the whole home balance, including the fan over your gas range and the range you chose. You simply cannot have gas without direct venting. You may have to compromise your range and change your BTU's or even go to induction. You need to hire a local Kitchen and Bath designer who will work with the HVAC contractor to get what you need and hopefully what you want. There are far too many details that are not even listed by yourself to address on line. Realistically, any advice here should be to have another qualified tradesperson look at it on site and work from there. This is one area where Houzz advice is not beneficial compared with a qualified tradesperson on site. Once you have this resolved and can pick the best appliance for your needs and wants then... we design. Best wishes and good on you for sharing your dilemma.

There are "splotch" areas that our contractor, based on the location of them, believes may have been caused from the suction devices used when carrying in the countertops. They look like oily/greasy 8-10"ish areas under the polish and would not rub/polish out (VP of install company attempted this). There are also shape marks matching the CNC machine (and located where it was placed) that would not rub/polish out. Unsure of where the fault lies...w/the polish method from the manufacturer or the install procedures of the install company (suction seems standard). Only conjecture is from my contractor who had nothing to do w/any of this part of the project. Feeling uneasy about a "redo" given no explanation for how this occurred. (How can one prevent a misstep in the second attempt if the cause is unknown from the first attempt?) Does that clarify, Joseph?

I love a good revived thread. :-) My good deals are all from eBay this time. My desktop computer is not quite four years old, but since it gets a lot of use and we believe in "lifecycling" electronics I've been casually looking for a good deal on a somewhat high-end refurbished PC to replace it. Before I found anything, my computer quit. Just refused to turn on. I researched possible causes, and called in my expert: my son. The power supply was a common source of the problem, so I bought one on eBay for $20. Nope, that didn't do it, but we kept the replacement in the computer and held onto the old one as a spare. Next we replaced the motherboard ($70 on eBay). Yes! The computer works fine at this point, but we figured since the hard drive has been spinning all these years, why not replace it--or add another, which is what we did--rather than wait for it to fail? So I bought a 1TB SSD drive on Amazon ($100), and now have a "new computer" for under $200. Also, I've been wanting an L.L. Bean tan canvas "barn jacket" for a long time but was unwilling to pay over $100 for it. Even eBay prices on them aren't usually tempting, but this time I found one for under $20 including shipping. I love it! It really is "like new," and I look forward to wearing it when spring starts to make an appearance. All I need now are olive green "wellies" for our muddy season.
