I decided to get a handheld vacuum for our second floor so I wouldn't have to carry the heavy Dyson vac up. Hemmed and hawed over quality vs price and finally went for the $69 Shark cordless. At check out, the scan showed $18. Hmmm. What to do? I told the folks monitoring the self-service area. They rescanned and still $18. (It was not on sale, btw.) So I paid and left. Yay!

Me either, functionthenlook. The woman who sold it said she didn't use it because she is a "from scratch baker" and had no use for it. I took that to mean there may be a school of thought out there that bread made in a bread machine doesn't count as homemade. I like to bake things like pita bread, English muffins, pizza dough, dinner rolls and hamburger buns. Looking into the future, I see the machine as being a huge time saver when it comes to mixing, kneading and proofing the dough for me. My first loaf is rising and it's looking pretty good!

My online art course! I'm taking classes in watercolor painting from Domestika, a company in Spain. They offer a lot of courses in a variety of fields, mostly artistic, and I learned about them when many of their courses were on sale. I added a discount coupon I found online, so the total price of my course was under $10. I didn't want live classes, so this is perfect for me as I can work on it whenever I want. I'm impressed with the structure, the content, and the instructor. The only downside is that the course is in Spanish, and the poorly-translated English subtitles are often confusing. It's also a challenge to watch what the instructor is doing and read the subtitles at the same time. But that's what pause and rewind is for. I'm enjoying the course so much that I've already signed up for another one, also under $10. I have the feeling Domestika puts its courses on sale often--maybe all the time? I really don't know about that, but I can say there's nothing cheesy about them. Even the subtitles have been a positive because they sometimes make me laugh. In the age of Covid I appreciate all such opportunities!

I meant to share this earlier- it's just a super handy dandy thingy that I found at the Dollar Tree ( so it is now $1.25) I keep my charging cables in here and can always find them easily. I keep it in my purse on a daily basis and when we traveled it was just so handy. All patterns and a few different shapes. Mine is about 2 1/2 or 3 inches square. and open- (it also has a net pocket inside. Gotta love it.

I get it Funky. What I like about this one is that it is a stretched canvas, no glass, which keeps it simpler. It's going into a small upstairs bedroom that has the original 1910 stained wood beadboard, so I think a poster size print will bring a pop to the walls without needing anything else. We'll see!

    Tomotoes....yes! Yum!

That vacuum was almost free! Similar thing happened to me when buying side trim for my truck, $30. The price didn't come up when scanned, sooooooooooooooo.....he shrugged his shoulders, rescanned it, then just threw it in the bag......gave it to me. :0) I was buying several things, my total was still about $60. I had to look at the receipt to catch it. That's when the shoulder shrug made sense. lol

I bought summer sausage that was regular price for 10.69. It was on sale for 5,99. They had 1.50 off coupons for it, so I got 10 of them for 4.45 each. 5 cans of vegetables for 95 cents, real good grapes for 99 cents a pound, pails of ice cream for 3,99 so I thought I did good.

I had been looking for either tall rectangular mirrors or two pairs of square, beveled mirrors to put above the mirrored bedside tables from Pottery Barn in our master bedroom. Pottery Barn carries the type of square, beveled mirror I was looking for, but at $150 per mirror, the price was too high. The other night I started looking around for more reasonably priced alternatives and found the Erelina Decorative Square Wall Mirror set of 4 for $125.99 by Zipcode Design on Wayfair pictured below. Because Wayfair has a 30 day return policy, I went ahead and ordered the set. The mirrors arrived the next day and they're exactly what I was looking for, at a fraction of the cost. We have a lot of things from Pottery Barn already and these mirrors look identical to the set of beveled mirrors I saw in their showroom.

Found a great deal at Costco....serious deal....a pack of underwear for under $5. wasn't sure I'd even like them and figured if I didn't who cares, it was only $5. UGH...I really like them and went back to get more....ALL GONE!!! Instead of thinking if I liked them I'd come back and get more I should have bought a couple packs and returned the extra packs if I didn't end up liking them. Lesson learned :-)

Only good deal I've found is a jersey nighty for Rosy (dog) I found it at Rite Aid pharmacy for a buck. Only one there in xx small so it was ment to be. With fall weather hitting us Amiee is concerned about Rosy getting cold at night. Shes now 8 months old but struggles yet to get herself under her blanket. I tell Amiee Rosy will get herself under the blanket if she's cold but Amiee worries at just over 3 pounds Rosy will get a chill and end up sick. Anyway this was a very good price.

I scored a free meal today by using coupons from the local grocery store. One was for a free large pepperoni, sausage and olive take and bake pizza. I had mushrooms at home and added them to the pizza. The other coupon was for a bagged salad kit that contained various greens, carrots, broccoli, green onions, smoked bacon and candied almonds. I added cucumber and tomato to round it out a bit.

The pizza sells for $9.99 and the salad for $4.99. We'll get at least three meals plus some snacks out of it - feeling pretty good about this deal!

P.S. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was...yum, yum!

Hey Nicole, I'm glad this thread came back up. I wanted to share something with you that I just got. It's a Tang horse!!! I have admired yours since back in the day and this one came up last week. A woman in the neighborhood was selling it for $7. I really like it. It isn't valuable in any way but I think it's really neat. I asked her about it's background and she said she hoped I wouldn't be disappointed to learn that she thought she got it at Home Goods. I really don't care where she got it. I like it. It's big and really heavy. It also was broken at one time and was fixed. I like that about it too. I like things that have a history.

It was half off day at the thrift store yesterday.

I got a brand new roasting pan with rack for $2.50 and a brand new Misty Harbor rain slicker/coat for $5. They sell for $50 retail. Boscovs has them on sale at the moment for $40, so I'm feeling pretty good about my coat and I've been looking for a good raincoat forever. I also got a bunch of new picture frames with mats for $1 each. I have several photos I want to frame and new frames and mats are ridiculously expensive.

After the thrift store shopping, I headed over to a casino for gambling and lunch. Put $20 into a slot machine and came out with $50. Overall, a very good day!

Thanks, Nicole! I do like your new horse even if his tail is not "correct".

I have been hearing good things about Hyundai for awhile now too. They have some nice SUV models I would like. I just sold my 2008 125,000 miles Honda Civic (with a defective paint job that Honda would not cover - it didn't show up until 2 months after the recall expired) and I bought a 2009 VW Passat with 82,000 miles on it. I feel like I just got a Mercedes Benz!! It's that nice of a car. I'm thrilled.

I need to revisit the thrift stores. It's been a little while for me. And Dawn, congrats on your win on the slots! I'm going tomorrow with my friend, so I hope I do as well!!

    I love a good revived thread. :-)

My good deals are all from eBay this time. My desktop computer is not quite four years old, but since it gets a lot of use and we believe in "lifecycling" electronics I've been casually looking for a good deal on a somewhat high-end refurbished PC to replace it. Before I found anything, my computer quit. Just refused to turn on. I researched possible causes, and called in my expert: my son. The power supply was a common source of the problem, so I bought one on eBay for $20. Nope, that didn't do it, but we kept the replacement in the computer and held onto the old one as a spare. Next we replaced the motherboard ($70 on eBay). Yes! The computer works fine at this point, but we figured since the hard drive has been spinning all these years, why not replace it--or add another, which is what we did--rather than wait for it to fail? So I bought a 1TB SSD drive on Amazon ($100), and now have a "new computer" for under $200.

Also, I've been wanting an L.L. Bean tan canvas "barn jacket" for a long time but was unwilling to pay over $100 for it. Even eBay prices on them aren't usually tempting, but this time I found one for under $20 including shipping. I love it! It really is "like new," and I look forward to wearing it when spring starts to make an appearance. All I need now are olive green "wellies" for our muddy season.

These are mine. Not exactly cheap by Craigslist standards, but I'm very happy as they are higher quality pieces. The first was a smaller Henredon leather sofa, in practically new condition for $500. The previous owners had apparently bought it for a charity house, but it's been in storage for the last 6 years so that explains the condition. The 2nd purchase was a pair of these custom silk velvet armchairs and an ottoman also for $500 total. The 2nd photo of the sofa is against my rug that I bought last summer off eBay. I need to take some final photos once I get the room all together. I'm trying to do the furniture on a budget so I'll have more left for some remodeling on the back part of the house.

I had an accident last year, and would love to be able to move my laundry room up to the 1st floor somehow now that I walk with a cane.
