Some Roses (Gloire de Dijon, Jude the Obscure, Lavender Pink etc)
Comments (6)Ingrid, you can't see that view directly from my house but a lot of the areas near me you can see the mountains like this! I live in the Santa Clarita area (north of Burbank/LA) I'm not sure if my rose is Mrs. Wood's or if it's just Lavender Pink! Ah well, we'll see how it does. I'll try and get some form of protection up for my shorter bands, soon. THanks guys, I didn't even think of that! huttnem, I agree about the clouds! Those mountains with the sun moving over them... it's easier to see them when the clouds have cleaned out the air and cause the light to move in beautiful ways. Plus, I have no desire for us to get to 110 degrees sooner than we need to. :)...See MoreCan you help ID this lavender rose?
Comments (6)Yes, thank you, Kim, I just found Blue For You earlier today and thought that it REALLY looked like my rose as well! I think it may be a match, although I agree, the timeline is strange. I took 3 years off of gardening so I KNOW it wasn't purchased in that timeframe and I did have the rose for a year or two before that, so I must have gotten it as soon as it crossed the pond. That must have been a lucky purchase b/c I had no idea I was purchasing a new introduction, much less one that still seems hard to find even now. I can't think that its anything else other than Blue For You, though. It is a dead ringer, even down to the white center and scent. It must be it! Very happy to have an ID, but seems like it would be impossible to replace, so I better take good care of it!...See MoreFragrant roses: LAVENDER/PURPLE
Comments (50)Young Lycidas, a David Austin English shrub rose is beautiful and very fragrant. It has other good qualities, as well. Very disease-resistant, good repeat bloom, and it doesn't outgrow a small garden (as many other David Austin roses do)....See MoreComparing a few lavender toned roses
Comments (24)Cori Ann I agree with your Husband, Love Song looks so extraordinarily sniffable, but it isn’t very scented at all...very tricky indeed! I told myself I’d never grow a non-fragrant lavender, but it’s so lush and beautiful, I ended up planting one. Shannon, I can’t provide a beautiful lavender bench palette like Cori Ann, but since I love both Heirloom and Melody Pafumee here they are for comparison: Heirloom: Melody Parfumee (I rather prefer the name Violette Parfumee since she is a rather unique shade of violet, and doesn’t sing): I love that both bloom like it’s the End of the World unless every possible flower is produced. Heirloom is a bit more plum, Melody more violet. Both very fragrant, Heirloom more raspberry, Melody more lemon. Heirloom is more old fashioned in form, Melody modern. Heirloom repeats faster, Melody lasts longer. Both probably need to be sprayed in a humid environment. I’d hate to choose between them, I think you need them both :-)...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
