You just might think you have 2 or 3 "Active" squirrels gardengrl. I betting you're wrong. I thought I had been averaging about three locals that have stripped a plum tree bare 7 years running. Since I've started growing more produce in my yard I've observed the following about FL Squirrels. They will eat plums, lettuce, swiss chard, spinach, tomatoes, green beans, green bean flowers, rose buds, grapes, blackberries and blueberries. I have personally observed them eating all of these things in my yard. I have also had them in the attic on more than one occassion. I thought I had rats making all that noise - surprise, it was a squirrel in my peanut butter baited rat trap. They are destroying all my hard work so I finally resorted to a squirrel specific tube trap. What I thought were 2 or 3 has turned out to be 13 in less than two weeks and there were two more investigating the trap this morning. You likely have a plague of squirrels brought about by peanut pushing neighbors. At least that's my problem.

@sarina: I have had the Kobe RA02 for about 8 months now. Being an engineer, I did the install myself, although the chimney cover is still not in place, as I need to redo the crown molding behind it (procrastination is the name of this game). Overall I like it, but that doesn't say much, as my previous ventilation was just a fan-in-a-ceiling-hole. The quiet setting is quiet, but the other two are noisy; without previous experience, the "sones" numbers don't translate well into actual noise levels. Otherwise, on High, the hood is pulling out all the smoke and airborne grease steaks in a cast-iron skillet produce. You will have to open a window or install a MUA to help it pull all that air volume. The baffles need scrubbing every month or so, but that's a very small price to pay for not having cabinetry and walls smeared in grease. The model you're looking at is a little more elaborate, as it has some sort of electronic control. The RA02 is bare-bones, just two rotary switches.

Bill, let me know when you remember....I'll try to keep lurking tonight! zinfanatic--DH said it might be a wash with regards to the price difference between taking the hood down and tiling the enitre space vs tiling around the hood (making all the cuts in the tile to fit around the hood ups the labor cost). Also, if you like Zin, we've had Ravenswood Old Vines--Lodi, 7 Deadly Zins, and Bramblewood Old Vines recently. We thought all 3 were all pretty nice (Bramblewood had strong chocolate overtones if you like that!). We also had Gnarly Head (?) last night at my BIL's home and that was neat, too.

not sure august is the time to moving annuals around the garden ... you might lose not only the one you move.. but also severely impact the one you leave ... besides.. in mother earth.. i dont really see why they would need to be moved ... they arent necessarily going to kill each other ... plz include your location in every post ... not so important here.. but it might be in that lonely rose post ... ken ps: in my rural area.. if i were throwing uncomposted kitchen scraps around my plants ... i would probably have fights out there from raccoons.. skunks ...ground hogs ....and mice ... trust me.. if you dont have them now.. you dont want to be attracting them to your garden ....
