30 inch alcove tub
Comments (10)I just installed the Mirabelle Edenton 30x60x20. It's a great tub (especially for the money). I got an air bath, which you may not want and paid about $1850 delivered with the drain in white. I believe the price quoted above is about accurate for the regular tub. It also has a modern, attractive skirt and better looking acrylic than some other tubs in the price range. They are only sold at Ferguson. The Edenton is large inside. I'm 5'11" and I can fully stretch my legs in it. There were only two other tubs that I could fit in and this one is bigger and deeper. If you want to check it out, my remodel is linked below. Comments (52)We replaced an older Underscore overmount that was improperly being used for a tub/shower combo with a newer Underscore alcove tub, no apron K-1121-R-0. The 30” width is no problem, I would be more concerned about her height as far as ability to get out of the tub as its somewhat deep (great for soaking!). I am 6’ 260lbs and feel the tub is still roomy. We did have problems ordering the tub so I recommend ordering before you start construction. We got a left facing tub first, the second tub was cracked, the third one was fine. Ordered through Home Depot first and then Amazon, returns were all handled just fine. Photo is after tile but before the glass swinging splash panel was installed....See MoreKohler Underscore not good enough for master bath?
Comments (14)Everyone's idea of what constitutes a master bath is different. If you have the room to have a big fancy tub and huge shower, etc etc then you want the tub area to feel more luxurious ( a deck mounted tub will look great with the right surroundings ) . Many homes in my area have an en suite. It is barely a shower a toilet and maybe a pedestal sink. But that can still be luxurious. You love to take a bath - the function of that tub will far out weigh any aesthetics, especially since it is a drop in tub! Choose awesome tile and paint colors, lay back and enjoy it! The best thing to do is to sit on the floor and have some measure you from your back to your toes and then from the floor to your armpits. That will give you a sense of how much length you need in the bathing well and water depth ( NOT apron height - it will say in the description what the water height is ) . Here is the spec for the Underscore Compare it to the tub you have now. If you can go to a 66" that might be nicer. Also don't forget to factor in armrests - yes or no? Good luck!...See MoreTub selection for larger people
Comments (9)We cannot make the bathroom any bigger than it is unfortunately, and it is the only bathroom with a tub in a single-family ranch, so for resale purposes, we cannot take the tub out. We may be able to fit a 60x32 but that isn't too big a difference. I saw the Kohler Villager but it's even less soaking depth (8 5/8") than our current ancient tub which has ~ 9.5. If we use a mortar bed under an acrylic, is there less of a concern of creaks and cracks? I mean we aren't significantly large, just 200-250 range for the 3 adult size people. My husband is the only one with any height, but we already know he isn't stretching out no matter what one we pick. I know acrylic can be repaired easier than chips in enamel but with it being harder to clean too, that's a consideration. My husband will throw fish tank water in the bathtub when he's cleaning his tank and the pebbles may fly around and they could scratch the tub or even discolor it. Never been an issue in the current tub since it's already in rough shape....See MoreAmanda
