Bathtub width - Kohler Archer?
Comments (15)Just today, in my house, a 66x32 Archer and a 60x36 Mariposa were roughed in. What a funny coincidence! If you have specific questions about how they feel (no water yet) or fit, I can climb around in them and try to answer them. I did a lot of research here and elsewhere, and both these tubs seemed to get a lot of positive reviews. I put the mariposa in my elderly mom's bathroom since it isn't quite so deep and is supposed to be very comfortable. I put the Archer in a narrower guest/kid bathroom (squeezing to get to 32, no way for 36) that will serve both my very tall (6'4) brother as well as ultimately my teens when they are adults . . . and my son is on track to be 6' + so I wanted one guest/kid tub that was longer. Both look great. The Archer is nicely shaped for a shower/bath set up, and the Mariposa looks good in the soaking tub set up I have it in. Just looking at them, I'd lean towards the Archer for a shower/tub set up for frequent shower use as the walls are narrower so easy to step over, while the Mariposa walls are wider (wide enough to put a roman tub faucet coming up out of the side wall, which is what I did) How tall/big are the users of your tub going to be?...See MoreAcrylic tubs - do they feel cheap or normal tub feel?
Comments (23)I bought an AMERICH WRIGHT base level acrylic tub for $1,000 from a bath and kitchen store in 2017 and it is a piece of plastic. After two years It was stained, difficult to clean and never feels entirely clean, the caulk around the tub has needed replacement several times, and the Americh label partly wore off almost immediately. I never use any abrasive cleaning products (all organic). When I contacted the manufacturer they pointed out that I the care instructions said I was supposed to WAX my tub with high-quality carnauba paste type wax. Wax my tub? They also referred me to a very expensive tub cosmetic repair company. Unfortunately I removed an old enamel tub instead of refinishing it. Number 1 worst decision in my remodel after seeking lots of advice. I dream of ripping this one out and replacing it with an enamel tub. Taking a bath in an acrylic tub feels cheap even though it wasn't.....See MoreNeed advice on wear & tear of acrylic tubs (Kohler, Mirabelle, Am St)
Comments (1)I have the Kohler Archer and Underscore. Both have held up well. The Archer is used by 2 people's daily showers and baby's bath. Minor scratches can be buffed out and if damaged, you can get an acrylic repair professional. The biggest benefit of the acrylic is the deeper water depth and ability to retain the heat of water for longer compared to cast iron. Cast iron will be more durable. If you choose acrylic, have your contractor install it in a mud base to the floor...it will make it feel very solid....See MoreJacuzzi Linea vs Kohler Underscore Alcove Tubs
Comments (4)I got my Kohler UnderScore Tub installed 3 or 4 months ago and havent had any issues. Loving it so far. Was a bit worried about my kids (smallest being 8 and on the shorter side) stepping in and out but it hasnt been a problem. It looks great....See MoreNancy S.
