Memory foam mattress topper is too hot!
Comments (23)Sarahlee, It somewhat surprises me when you say that your topper is gel foam. When I was in the market for a new mattress I told all the sale people that I did not want foam because of its reputation for being hot to sleep on. I'm extremely bothered by being too warm when I sleep. One of the salespeople told me about the gel foam and how it is sensitive to your body temps and makes for a cooler sleep. I was skeptical, but with a money-back guarantee I did purchase it and have been very pleased. I have never been in the market for a topper, so I wasn't even aware that they made a gel foam one. It would seem that if it is a topper only, the gel layer can't be that thick. Seems like most replies you've gotten have been relative to regular foam, rather than the gel foam....See MoreISO: European style (?) *soft* topper + supportive mattress
Comments (16)Chispa, you are awesome! Here are the mattress topper descriptions: "LUXURY The Luxury is a stretched surface, adaptable top mattress with a soft cottonfilled summer side, a wool-filled winter side and a central section containing Talalay latex. Practical and comfortable all year round. Height: 9 cm (3.5â³). PREMIUM Top mattress Premium boasts a talalay latex core with a fibre filling. Comes with a washable, overlap-stitched stretch fabric with embroidered logo. A beautifully soft, highly adaptable top mattress featuring an eye-catching design. Height: 7 cm (2.8â³). PRESTIGE Prestige is a highly adaptable model filled with natural latex, and includes a removable stretch material cover, machine washable at 60ðC (140F). Height: 5 cm (2â³)." Although, seriously pricey. A commenter on Remodelista wrote: "FYI to other Remodelista readers, these beds start at $14,000 and go up to about $25,000. They actually cost even more than Hastens ($10-20k) or Duxiana ($6-15k). For these prices they better be stuffed with hair from unicorn tails." LOL. But knowing what the toppers are made of is useful. Edited to add: unicorn tail hair-stuffed beds are unfortunately not in the budget. Comments (5)I can address some of your questions but not the fold-up part. The only thing I used on a sleeper that folded in with the mattress was a plush mattress pad that only sort of helped the comfort factor. All that to say we bought a queen sleeper mattress to put on a box spring that we already have because it was a super firm mattress (which my MIL prefers). It's the more infrequently used guest room but I still want it comfortable and needed to bump up the height of the mattress - it looked oddly low. So I bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYN9K5B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and that bed is now super comfortable - you sink in a bit with the foam and then have firm support. It squishes down to nothing for shipping and then 'inflates' after opening so I'm sure it would squish enough to fold in with the mattress....See MoreCuddle bed mattress topper
Comments (10)I had the same problem with one of my mattresses. I just bought two foam toppers at Walmart (very inexpensive), topped that with a comforter and then put a padded mattress cover on top of that. It's very firm but soft. I gave up my Tempurpedic which was causing me to ache all over for this bed....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
