Help choosing flooring color
Comments (19)"Shead, the price for real wood would mean we'd have to take out the laminate, plus the tile underneath it, and then prep the floor with a moisture barrier. Then the price per square foot for wood is a couple of dollars higher than the laminate. So, it would be almost double the price, and we have a pool, so we have to deal with water being tracked in, and the the flooring would be in the kitchen where my husband and 1.5 year old constantly splatter/spill water." I see. Removing tile is a PITA. We've only installed LVT over concrete or subfloor in applications where we needed a true budget flooring (DH did the install in a basement and in a mobile home on our farm). Is it safe to install over laminate that's bubbling and pealing. DH's aunt installed it over tile so I know that's fine....See MoreHelp choosing flooring color/materials that work with honey oak
Comments (4)This is my wood kitchens idea book with both new and refreshed wood kitchens. Keep your particular wood tone in mind when looking at pics, but most of these are warm toned. Many have wood floors: https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/75202366/list/wood-kitchens Natural oak works well with whites and creams as you can see in many of the pics. I have an oak kitchen and cream walls. Sage works well. Cool grays don't usually work, but warm grays - which often have a green or beige under tone can work well or very light gray/whites. In my home I have a traditional natural oak floor. It is not "on trend" but as it is in homes over a hundred years old and still used today - more timeless. Hickory flooring can be very pretty, but it has a lot of movement and color variations which might not work well with the oak cabinets. I refreshed my oak kitchen with new counters, apron front sink, backsplash and under cabinet lighting. I am very pleased with the results, but the under cabinet lighting was my most functional change and the one I would miss the most if taken away. I only have it between the sink and range, but it adds much needed light and brightens the kitchen....See Moreneed help with floor color and wall color

Comments (12)I don't love either of your samples. I would also never make a selection based on that tiny sample. Bring more samples home. Once you have narrowed it down to 2 colors, you should then order a box of each and lay them out in your home. Your flooring supplier should place a hold on enough flooring from each color, so that when you pick the box you like best, you are actually getting the same lot # for the whole order. Yes, you won't be able to return the box you rejected, but that is a small cost, compared to ordering and installing a whole house of new floors and realizing that you hate it and it looked nothing like the tiny sample you had used to pick the floor....See Moremillworkman
