Some ideas please...raised gazebo into a gardeners dream.
Comments (1)Someone told me that if I put plants in there...I would need to add window shades. I never thought of a green house that needed shades. But what do I know....See MoreWanting drastic change to livingroom (sorry but it's long & pics)
Comments (22)I like the idea of keeping the ceiling peaked. The beadboard will look great, but it may be pricey to do the whole ceiling. JCPenney has cellular shades that fit right into the arched windows Click here for link All on sale now too! I'd buy a computer armoire too in white or whatever color wood you are going to use in the room. That way the doors can be shut to hide clutter when you're not on the computer. A beachy theme would be great! You could use blues, greens and tans with your white and natural woods. Craigslist has been great for me! Check your local CL for furniture pieces you need.. you might find a great bargain. Comments (19)MyClementine, We have both and for different reasons, different times of year, I love them both equally! We just added a third......a new simple Shed-type roof/awning/porch out our kitchen back door.....exactly what ThreeDgrad describes in her post. When figuring cost and saving pennies, think of it this way..... The gazebo will cost an average of $400-$500 and that's Not factoring in how you want to secure it. Throw in your furnishings, planters, plants, etc and you are pushing it (I've already got everything from other areas of our yard...plants, furnishings, etc. I just need the motivation to paint some of the stuff and pretty other stuff up). DIY-- What we just did: total cost $377 and that included the bags of cement for the slab (over the course of several paychecks). That cost also included a 12 ft. engineered beam off of Craigs List (average beam cost $200+. CL cost $35). We had to pour our own cement slab....so you are already ahead of the game with your slab already there! I was running out of steam with our new porch/overhang project but seeing AuntJen's and ThreeDgrads porches really inspired me to keep going. If you need motivation to get started or motivation to start saving the pennies, go take a look at AuntJen's and ThreeDgrad's porch decor posts...very inspiring! But you have to keep us updated on what you decide and then keep us updated with pics. I don't know about anyone else but I need all the motivation and inspiration I can get! *smile* Everything has been scrubbed, puttied, caulked and primed using tinted primer. Roofing paper is up. Next payday....shingles! *smile* Here is a link that might be useful: Progression of New Porch/Patio area...See MorePaint Colors for Sunroom
Comments (14)I wanted to post a follow-up, as we are 99% done with our sunroom! We painted the beadboard ceiling SW Pearly White & love it! It is a warm, off white. For the walls, we tried about 6 different paint colors and kept striking out with the warm whites. Sherwin Williams(SW) Steamed Milk (too yellow), SW Alabaster(too light), SW Natural Choice (too yellow), SW Egris (too rosy), and a few others. Lovely colors, but they just weren't working. Then in desperation due to time running out, I switched gears and got a sample of a cool white to try on the walls. SW Origami was perfect! Just what we wanted - a white that was just different enough from the trim to show a little contrast. No undertones. Thanks for the input, GW! Here's a photo of the room. We love the new space, and can't wait to decorate it. :) wags...See MoreV Marks
