Comments (26)HI Juliekcmo, I have electrician coming in a couple of weeks. I will ask about putting outlet there but that window faces a busy street and only the center bottom window opens (by design). So it's really not as nice as it appears to be. The whole upper window is a transom window and I doubt it's opened in 50 years and it's a very poor design as it's way too huge to be a transom window. I love the idea of the bed on this wall and it really would open up the room but I think there are too many things against it. knowing all of that, would you still try to get the bed in front of the window? thank you!!!!...See MoreWhich table? Comments (35)I love those pictures with the beautiful curtains. But looking closely at my room, I'm not sure I have room for sheers to the side of the windows. The space between the window trim and room corners is not very big. If I do do curtains, would I only do them over the window behind the love seat? Not around the two windows on the wall with the bed next to the night stands right? I am definitely going to move the art. Building for the CATS, that bedding is very pretty! The lamps are also very nice... but would I have to get an electrician? I'm not sure I want to get into that... I had an electrician come last year and move a plug 12 inches in my media room and it was very difficult, time consuming, and costly b/c of the way our attic is constructed. nosoccermom, I do like the glass table, some of those overstock ones look nice. They might pick up the color of the little birds in my other table. I really like the idea of the ceramic garden stool too and I'm looking for one that would pick up the sofa colors... ingrid, not too critical at all. I do like a cozy bedroom :) k9arlene I will look for lamps... maybe blue ceramic from the prior suggestion. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I am on the hunt for bedding now!...See MoreHELP! Comments (51)Well hello Sarah. Good for you. I see you and your husband are okay with painting the room. Bottom line Sarah you are the ones who have to be happy with the room after all you and your husband are the ones who have to live with it and painting it again is no fun. Originally you wanted to make the room feel bigger. It is up for debate; some say darker colors do the job, others light. Anything that reflects light in a room makes it feel bigger such as mirrors, wall lights and I believe, lighter walls. I ask, what color makes you and your husband happy and gets you excited? Also what color is closest to your duvet? Do you want to match the duvet or go just one color lighter? It does seem as if this project is driving you up the wall. Ouch. My wish is that you had a room upstairs that you could turn into a master. BTW the one with a touch of grey looks great. Best wishes, Marcie...See MoreHow to fix my damaged bedroom wall?
Comments (3)I can't give you answers to all of your questions, but I can answer a couple. 1. That vertical crack looks like a crack in the foundation caused by settling. It happens in a lot of older homes and I don't think it is super serious, but it could settle more over time, so you might have to re-do a repair at some future point due to additional movement. 2. That looks like normal cracking in old plaster...not an indication of anything worse. 3. The black stain is not mold. It is stain damage caused by water sitting on top of the oak parquet, either from watering plants sloppily and not cleaning up, or from a leak coming through the wall from outside. There are various ways to try to clean this up (just Google), but in my experience it's not possible to make them disappear completely as it's not just on the surface, but has penetrated down into the wood a bit. I once had to deal with this and finally used a power sander to physically remove the stains, and then refinished the surface to match the surrounding area as much as possible. I probably had to remove 1/16" of oak to get to undamaged wood. 4. How did you get debris behind a baseboard in the first place? In any case, the easiest thing would be to pry it off, clean behind it, and reinstall....and maybe cauld the top edge with latex, paintable caulk. 5. If I were repairing that wall, which looks like concrete with patches of spackle or a plaster skim coat. I would sand only enough to remove anything that is loose, and then use a 12" wide joint knife to flatten the surface with joint compound....See Morekazzh
