One small thing I'd suggest is to frame the canvases on the walls. Your furniture is very formal and framing would keep with that tone. I think you'd feel the room was more finished with some sort of bedding "set" also, either one you find that might pick up some of the carpet colors or a layered look you put together yourself. Are you planning on anything for window treatment?

I agree a bedding set might help make it look more finished. If you plan to keep the same bedding, which I do like, by the way, what about a decorative pillow on the bed that coordinates with a decorative pillow on the couch? Of the JCP tables, I like the first one best for your space. As far as the space to the right of the entertainment center, have you lived with it empty for very long? Does it feel like it NEEDS something there? I don't think I'd put a wood console table or similar below the picture. I'd either leave it empty, or maybe line up a set of tall baskets that vary in height.

Your room is gorgeous and I don't think you need to do too much to make it look more polished. Have you considered curtains? Some curtains in lineny weave would add another pretty layer. Also, a throw across the bottom of the bed and some print pillows on the bed would help the bed look more finished.

A table would look nice but I think to get the look you want to achieve you need to consider adding different textures rather than putting in more wood pieces.

You might want to look into a bed set that lies flatter on your bed; it looks like that cover will never be anything but rumpled. (Sort of like my own, right now...) A bed throw will also look good at the base. One complementary-colored and patterned throw pillow (I am not a fan of massive amounts of excess clutter pillows on beds or couches, but one or two small ones provide accent).

If you are a book reader, I'd put a bookcase under that painting on the TV wall, and fill it with books. BTW, I really really like that painting.

PS- I don't think the paintings need framing.

I wouldn't put anything under the painting to the right of the EC. However, think this painting is way too high. It needs to be moved down. Due to the height of your headboard, i dont think a picture works over the bed. It looks odd hanging so high and it's too dark. I'd look for some metal sculpture(s) or something similar to hang there that isn't a picture. The picture next to it is hung too high as well. Do you really need tables and lamps on either side of the sofa. Do you sit there and read? You already have so much wood in the room. Can you put the bird lamp on one of the bedside tables. When I think of Florida, I think of light and airy.

Pretty room! I think new bedding in a rich pattern is the main thing that's lacking.

The end table and lamp look crowded in the corner, and you've got two tables sharing a small space. I'd put the metal table and lamp to the right of the love seat. I think the lamp will look better with a solid wall behind it and give you light coming from that direction instead of natural light and lamp light both coming from the corner. I'd change the lampshade to a color that won't disappear against the paint color. I'd add a lamp to both nightstands.

The art looks scattered and it's taking my attention away from the bed, where it should be. All your art is the same style so I'd think about something different near the entertainment center, maybe a tapestry/fiber art or a photo collection. I'd use a wider painting over the bed and find a different style than the paintings on the sides of the beds. Those paintings need to be centered over the nightstands and lowered, not floating in a line with the centered painting.

I would suggest three euro pillows with a print on them and a new duvet (solid) that isn't a set but coordinates. Lower the art that is on the tv wall to where middle of art is about 60" from floor. The smaller art next to bed should either be removed or hung right above the nightstand.

If you don't need two tables and lamps at the sofa, then I agree the table and lamp would be better moved to the right (if you want two tables, my first choice table from JCP would be the one with the metal base.. but I would even consider something like an upholstered cube with a tray on top or something else not wood). If you did move the floor lamp, maybe you could put a pretty lamp on each nightstand to fill up the bed wall. I'd prefer a lamps hung above the nightstands and then your bed wall would be complete and very polished.

Your art is gorgeous, but I think the placement of it around your bed takes away from it and your beautiful statement headboard. It makes both seem less important when each are great enough be the star. If you don't need lamps by the bad, then I would put the two small paintings right above the nightstands (not going above the headboard) and have nothing above the bed (unless the top of the headboard is lower than I think.. can't really tell)

The mid point of your art should be at eye level or close to it. If you put your biggest piece at the right height to the right of the entertainment center, you might find the wall will look complete and not like something should go under it.. just a guess

I don't like fussy beds that are made up strictly for show and remember you love blue, so I'd keep what you have, which is nice, and as others have suggested, toss a gorgeous substantial throw across the foot of the bed and just have it draped over the sofa when you sleep. Maybe something beige/oatmeal/gold ?

My first thought was no more wood either in regards to the table next to the sofa. Do you need a table or are you just trying to fill the space? What about one of those ceramic stands, I don't know what they are called. It doesn't look bare or like it need anything. I agree, new bedding would finish off your room nicely. What you have now is way to casual for what you have going on in the rest of your space.

I don't know how tall the OP is, but that looks eye level to me. Assuming she's tall - some of us are - I do note I dislike looking at art down at torso level. And the painting above the bed is appropriately-located. I can see shifting the smaller painting on that wall elsewhere, depending on the look of the rest of that wall.

Thanks everyone. I’m surprised at all the dislike of the bedding, which is a very nice blue and white duvet cover with matching pillows. Maybe it does not photograph well, or maybe I am just bad at making a bad, LOL… Or maybe I do need something a little fancier. I will have to start looking around for duvet covers and matched sets and see what else I can find. We do like a down comforter so I will need to stick w/ a duvet... unless they make down comforters with that don't need a duvet cover. Anyone have suggestions on that?

I was not going to do curtains because the plantation shutters are operable and I do open them a lot in order to get sunlight and fresh air into the room. How would curtains work with shutters that open to the sides?

I can definitely move the art down, both the pink tree picture and the one over the night stands. The art over the bed is a bit higher than eye level, maybe I should look for a wide rather than taller painting… The headboard is close to 5 feet.

Yes, I do have two night stands. I don’t need lamps on the night stands, the aromatherapy has a little night light that I use. I had the bird lamp on the night stands previously, but it was too big for the space. Lamp hanging over the night stands could be a possibility.

I like the idea of possibly tall decorative baskets next to the entertainment center. I think a bookcase might be too crowded, although that would be a possible option too…

I like the idea of a throw at the base of the bed and maybe that would help the existing bedding look more formal if I don't replace the bedding.

Greenery and plants are a nonstarter unfortunately. The doggies like to chow down on the plants in my sunroom and lanai and they also sometimes dig in the dirt to try to bury toys. Don’t need that in the bedroom, LOL. Plus, since we’re only here 6 months and the caretaker only comes once a week, the plants would probably die and I’d have to replace them all the time. I could maybe do a small orchid on the other night stand…

Maybe a white coverlet-linen since it's your FL house with duvet folded at bottom. White linen euro pillows with one accent lumbar pillow. I love the look of lots of pillows on a bed, but too much work to make the bed!

Perhap a cream wingback under print by ET with basket of blankets. Yes, to ceramic stool by settee. You could add blue/white ceramic one & even if you don't need lamps on night stands- it would help to center the headboard & artwork that is lowered over night stands. They could be blue/white ceramic, also.

A floor lamp might work in the angle next to the settee for reading. The bird lamp on small table doesn't look to be high enough for reading light.

Looks so much better with the table on the other end of your couch. Now the corner looks nice without two tables there. I think you could put your lamp on the little round table now. I know you mentioned shutters..is there any way you can put sheers up...they always look so airy and breezy.

Using curtains/drapes with shutters is more form than function. The goal is to add layers & textures to soften the shutters.

Adding lighting next to the bed may also be more form than function - for you. However. It does provide a "finished" look.

Your bedding is fine, I would just add more layers, pillows & a throw, to add more color/pattern.

Now that we can see the little table, it's too small for a lamp. I'd get a small table for lamp and tea cup instead of a ceramic stool. Like mdln said, bedside lamps will give more of a finished look. I also agree with whoever said that you could remove the painting over the bed all together with a 5' headboard. That would solve the problem of too much sameness with the art over the bed and nightstands.

If you don't want to take up space on your nightstands for lamps, this is the type of lamp I was thinking could flank your headboard. Stylish but also out of the way

I'm afraid the bedding does look rumpled and unfinished. My choice would be a cover or quilt of some kind the same color as the tufted love seat with perhaps a slight bit of blue pattern in it. I would choose tall pillow shams that are firm and go further up the headboard. I definitely would not add anything that is brown in terms of furniture. A Chinese ceramic garden seat in greens and blues would look nice by the love seat. The placing of the paintings needs work, as others have pointed out. I would put a beige chair next to the TV unit under the painting. Every bedroom needs a chair! The shuttered windows do look hard, and sheers that take up little room pulled to the sides would soften the room quite a bit. To me at the moment the room isn't as cozy as I would like a bedroom to be, but your tastes may differ, and I hope this doesn't sound too critical.

I don't see the need for any more furniture to just fill the space. If u don't need a chair to sit in or use to throw clothes on, don't get a chair. The space doesn't NEED anything. Just lower the picture. As far as a little table next to the sofa, if u NEED one, get it. I personally don't see the need for curtains. I'd adjust the existing art, maybe get a throw for the bottom of the bed and bedside lamps which would finish the look if u think you'd use them. Most bedrooms have bedside lamps.

I like mdln's photos with the light-colored drapes. You don't have to hang the drapes OVER the windows/shutters, do you? Hang the drapes on the outside the windows, over the wall. Then they wouldn't interfere with any function but still add texture and formality to your beautiful room.

I love those pictures with the beautiful curtains. But looking closely at my room, I'm not sure I have room for sheers to the side of the windows. The space between the window trim and room corners is not very big.

If I do do curtains, would I only do them over the window behind the love seat? Not around the two windows on the wall with the bed next to the night stands right?

Building for the CATS, that bedding is very pretty! The lamps are also very nice... but would I have to get an electrician? I'm not sure I want to get into that... I had an electrician come last year and move a plug 12 inches in my media room and it was very difficult, time consuming, and costly b/c of the way our attic is constructed.

You wouldn't need an electrician for the lamps (well, I guess it depends on which ones you get). Many of them simply plug in and the cord hangs down from them. Sounds weird but it looks fine. If you have space for lamps on your nightstands, I would think you'd love blue ceramic

If you decide to hang curtains/drapes beside the windows, hang them beside ALL the windows, not just those behind the couch. I think I would do rich-looking semisheers and have them hanging a foot outside of each window.

What I would do , remove both pieces of art on the bed wall , put the bird lamp on the bed side table on that side of the bed , move the little table to the right side of the couch , lower the tree art a little , put a tall basket hamper or decorative basket under the tree art , if you are happy with the bedding then get a decorative blanket or throw for the end of the bed and some coordinating throw pillows or lumbar pillow to add to the pillows to pull it together, pull the colors from the rug. . If you decide to move the diffuser to a different location then I would add a similar lamp to the bed side table on that side . I don't think the bed wall needs anything the beautiful headboard is the star. You have a lovely room .

All of these sconces simply need to be plugged into an outlet. No wiring necessary. They would fill the space and you wouldn't have a need for art on the bed wall.

I would definitely use a glass table as nosoccermom suggested, or the ceramic garden stool. Also, the wall with the tree painting, I would add a simple upholstered bench beneath it. The center of the tree painting should be close to eye level, as previously mentioned. You may want to consider Euro pillows for behind your existing pillows, which I think has been mentioned. (Bench is convenient when putting Euro pillows somewhere else for the night). I also like the suggestions of hanging sheers around the windows. Please keep us 'posted' on any changes you choose to make. Your space is lovely.

I laughed with your original post. All I could think of is a whimsy table I saw in a gift shop. I guessed at the name & searched "beagle Butler". Just right for a tea cup. Do a search.

I like the idea of a long rectangle shaped art piece over the headboard or maybe 2 or 3 separate pieces like in the one inspiration picture posted.

I'm going to have to take a closer picture of the windows because I definitely think there is not enough space....
