This May is Not Gray

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Here are two of my current beds. I don’t know in what order these photos will appear, so I’ll use other identifiers.
Backed by the bamboo: left to right, Bolgero (buds but blooms coming soon), Full Sail, or better said Full Stop, since it’s May and I’m not seeing buds; Camille Pissarro; Dream Come True.
Against the wall: first row, Our Lady of Guadalupe; second row, Love Song; climber, Lavender Crush; left background, Moonstone.

I forgot to mention: all the way on the right in the “bamboo” picture, there’s a Lady Hillingdon rearing its apricot head. That one slept through its first year, but is creeping rather well right now.

becktheeng, Can I ask what blue you used? Yesterday afternoon I ran out to the paint store, because I just couldn't wait. We have fluorescent lighting in our kitchen (not my favorite for color) and so picked blue/greens with that in mind I thought all fluorescents looked the same, but these compact fluorescents gray down the colors that I chose. That doesn't make sense to me, because I thought fluorescent light made blues and greens pop more. The BM Bird's Egg is very gray in our light, the Peacock Blue ditto, and the only one which pops a little is the Water Drops. I love the Simply White in our kitchen - it has just the right amount of warmth in it. I am attaching a link I just found - Popular Mechanics posted tests on Fluorescent Lighting and color. They show different bulbs with a grid array of colors. Unfortunately, the color I like, blue/green, doesn't fare too well. I am still going to try changing my bulbs. I looked at your kitchen hoping for some inspiration, and was overwhelmed by the beauty of it. Since your blue is the tile, I guess you can't help with the paint. ps, I wish that I had the windows and view that your kitchen has! Just beautiful. The soapstone is so warm - and the glass tile backsplash is the blue I want. Sort of a greenish blue, like the ocean on a clear day. Your kitchen is looking fantastic. Your favorite warm off white paint color for the kitchen?

Have you looked at BM Ivory White? After weeks of mental turmoil between Linen White and Ivory White, I picked the Ivory White(still have my fingers crossed) for the kitchen cabs to go with my Colonial Gold granite. The walls in the family room and the little bit of walls in the kitchen will be BM Splendor. The Linen White seemed to be a little pinkish to me. The Ivory White wasnt in a paint deck but behind the counter at the BM store. Number 925-Classic Colors. Picking paint colors is tough!

What sofa color to go with rug?

I've had the rug now for 4 months and love it! It vacuums very well. To be honest, at first I was surprised that the rug seems to "show" more crumbs/dirt. However, I think what is going on is that the crumbs are not settling into the fibers, they sit on top because of the way the wool is knotted. I can actually see that I've gotten everything with the vacuum, which is great. To avoid this, I need to get the kids to stop eating in the family room, but, our kitchen is under construction, so they get a pass, for now! My husband did spill some coffee on it one day, and although I wouldn't recommend doing that :), it cleaned up rather well after blotting the coffee, then blotting again with a wet rag. Can't see a stain. I'm doing the same in the kitchen as you, white cabinets, white/charcoal quartz, and the rug does pull it together well! I ended up with Agreeable Gray on the walls. It is more on the greige side, but I like that for my house and looks good with the rug. This is all still a work in progress, so anxious to see how it all comes together in the end! I think your couch will be fine!! I haven't bought it yet, but leaning towards doing an ottoman in a very similar leather color next to the grey couch.

Last but not least: poor quality photo , but this is all one bush. Renae! It’s taking up the entire wall where I had originally planned to plant three of them (the other two are in pots. Still).
Yes, I know I need a better trellis solution, but we are prohibited from making any holes in the walls. The thing to do would be to sink posts in concrete, then spread wire … but I’m just coming back from six weeks of sciatica, during which I couldn’t even walk a block. Are we permitted to sink posts in concrete? Do you think I’m even planning to ask?😏

Very beautiful, Sylvia! The ones that get my attention most is Dream Come True and the Flamingo Dancer. All are gorgeous but these are the "Pick Me-s" of the landscape.

Artist, I kept Dream Come True when I sp’d all the other HTs from the back bed. I love color-changing roses.
And stripes. Flamingo Dancer is just magical. Thorny, though ..
