The homeowner wanted to incorporate a 36" gas range, as he is an avid cook, and wanted easy access to all his cooking paraphernalia. Because the kitchen had a tall window that dipped down below counter level, we made the butcher block island in front of the window PORTABLE (it's on wheels!)
The center island is also on wheels, so it can be rolled out of the kitchen and onto their patio when entertaining. The end of the island is a gateleg, so this becomes a longer table when lifted. It was designed at this height so his young daughter could help him in the kitchen!
