Should mirror touch back splash? Design help needed
Comments (24)>the mirror will need to not touch the ledge below it. over time, say 5 years or so, water and cleaning agents will seep up behind the mirror and create a black line at the bottom of the mirror. You need enough space to no allow water to wick up behind the mirror. Kind of puzzled by this. I can see that this would be a big issue for mirrors that come to the countertop, but I have 30 year old mirrors that are actually supported by the backsplash, and they're just now starting to go at the corners, which I don't think has much at all to do with that....See Morewhere should I hang this mirror
Comments (17)Agree with Ingrid and dragonflywings42. The first step is to take down what you have on the walls, declutter and come up with a plan for each room and put back only what is meaningful. Clear space on the walls is just as important as what you hang on the walls. Most of what you have is hung too high. It (art, mirror or whatever wall hanging) needs to be at eye level which is approx 58 inches from the floor to the center of the art. There is some flexibility in that figure, but the art needs to relate to the people and the furniture. The more stuff that is out along the surface the less we see because it is all jumbled together. Start with a clean surface and only add back a few pieces. There has to be a place where the eye can rest. Comments (8)I had imagined we would lean art on the ledge going across. There will be two black sconces installed (you can see the holes for them). The ledge across is kinda odd and I guess that’s what we’re trying to solve for - to make it look more deliberate, since there is no longer a pass thru. Is there a play to hang art in FRONT of the ledge as well as some leaving? To create some dimension and kinda cover the ledge?...See Morehow should i arrange my mirror, etc
Comments (24)I like the idea of getting a duplicate dresser to place right next to this one. Just make sure the slanted legs allow it (can't see in the pic if the legs extend past the dresser sides). Alternatively, you could consider a standing mirror/butler to store the "might wear it again" clothes. This option might not result in design nirvana though. (The Ikea option below is a mini step above your current clothes rack.) If you're among those of us who need things to be visible and easily accessible, figuring out one's sweet spot between function and design can take some thought. And of course, paring down our stuff makes storage (aka clutter reduction) easier. You've gotten great advice so far and Mrs Pete gave you a fabulous breakdown to help you optimize the look of your room. You have a good sized bedroom. Upgrading just a few elements will have a strong impact....See Moremichers71
