Minimizing Pink Carpet

I am about to purchase a new house that has rosey pink wall to wall carpet in the LR, DR and master bedroom. It's new and in good condition and I do not want to replace it right now, but I don't like pink except as an accent color.

My furniture is pretty neutral in muted greens. I am thinking if I got area rugs for the LR and DR (and get rid of the dark pinky-red accent wall shown in the photo shown with the previous owners furniture) that I could "neutralize" the pink carpet and live with it. I would be OK tying things together with a little of the pink in a patterned rug that has mostly greens and ivory. I like traditional designs, not modern. Does my idea sound like it will work to reduce the pink impact?
