It is a good year for Monarch butterflies around here. We counted 29 Chrysalises hanging around the back porch.

murraysmom.....here in Colorado, garden centers sell lady bugs and praying mantis eggs, to release in a garden. I once was at a garden center when the cashier opened her register. It was FULL of little baby praying mantis running ALL over the money. ☺

A "flying pig". There was a contest years ago and these large pigs in different conformations were made and then painted. I don't remember the winning pig but all the pigs were then auctioned off and some ended up on public property while others ended up in private hands. They are still fun to see around town from time to time.

Seen in vending machine in Switzerland. Notice the condoms are cheaper than the pregnancy test. there’s a lesson there. ETA i just looked closely at the items in the very lower left hand corner. How did i miss that? Should have stocked up but maybe Id have been arrested for bringing it back into the USA.

My new tongue drum! I left it on my front porch and the septic guy who does our annual servicing banged out Hey Jude. The UPS delivery guy played Oh, Canada and an Indian traditional song, and the kids on a fund drive just had fun with it. Bing,bong. Jingle Bells was one. Visitors love it, it seems. Very calming sound. 🎶

"Our Small Town Rocks" is the theme for this year's parade in the annual celebration of the end of tourist season the weekend after Labor Day. DH helps the library design and build their floats and this year they decided on a Bedrock/Flintstones vibe. He has a trailer for his track car that he tows. The tires on Fred's car are empty drums of racing fuel. DH sketched the Flintstone family and cut them out of a sheet of plywood, then painted the characters. I donated a big fern and my favorite beach umbrella.The inflatable palm trees are from the big A. It's a bit of corny, small town Americana.

seagrass, I love your float so much and find it amusing that you have this parade to celebrate getting your town back!! I would love to see it in person. I have been to Cape Cod and it is a great place.

Lacey received a gift of Lambchop from a friend. Lambchop isn't very big but then neither is Lacey. I much preferred her teddy bear cut but the hair around her face irritated her eyes so I caved and went full poodle. No more tear stains or beard full of wet food leftovers. I'm still getting used to it but decided her comfort is, of course, paramount.

@murraysmom Zone 6a OH - I'm from Ohio. I met my husband when he came to Ohio State for grad school and we moved to Massachusetts after we got married in 1978. I go back to Columbus several times a year to visit my family. Living on the outer Cape has it's challenges. September is the sweetest month - we can finally breathe and dogs are allowed on beaches after Labor Day.
