Breakfast Room
Comments (71)Just typed a lonnnnnng reply and lost it- uggg! Pal-YES, Paul Mccobb Planner Group, made by Winchendon. I bought my MIL this book years ago and she was thrilled! Thanks! Tracey- thanks for asking, the watermelon colored drapes are old, hand-me-downs from a friend, isn't that sweet? I love 'em! Marti- I wish you had a pic, thanks for answering me! :) Eandhl & Dianalo- thank you kindly! Dianalo, loved my builder and the fact that he picked all the lighting out...but I hate that particular light fixture. It matches all the rest so it's funny, that's the only one that bothers me. Oceanna- THANK YOU for helping me, so kind. Sheeeeesh, that pic IS me. I may not be looking at wicker chairs now, turning the drop cloth drapes into a tablecloth and back on the hunt for a settee!! Hubs just rolled his eyes but agreed! thanks again~~~...See MoreHelp with picking breakfast area table please
Comments (7)I think whenever there is a square defined like your tiled area a round table is a nice compliment. I like the table and chairs posted above as well. There are many different types to choose from but I vote for round, just more options with placement than with an oval or rectangle and just easier. I have to tell you your kitchen is drop dead gorgeous, what a beautiful room in every way. I love your choices and I am sure you will choose a beautiful table as well, good luck!...See MoreNeed help with breakfast station area
Comments (13)The kids may be short forever. I have one that will be because she takes after me. :) I do have a 42" counter in a recreational vehicle and I hate it for cooking and dishwashing. It's fine for other stuff and I'm pretty picky about height things. A kid that is old enough to do anything on a counter is probably tall enough to do it on a 42" tall one if we're talking about easy stuff like pouring me coffee. A pullout cutting board is always nice though, for anyone. Find a 42" counter somewhere and play with it. See how it feels, especially in back since you're looking at a deep one. Stick with drawers. Measure cereal boxes first. I am not ready to retire my microwave in favor of my speed oven. There is still hope, but not much....See MoreKitchen and breakfast area layout advice?
Comments (21)I agree, new cabs are better than those 35 years old things. there are plenty of decent, solid wood cabinets available. you don't have to get them from lowes either. my kitchen painter guys I went with (and had mine refaced) got solid maple (paintable) shaker style. they are very nicely made. That is something you can consider if keeping the same layout. Are the bases solid wood and decent shape? just have everything refaced, and modified to add drawers to the bottom. if keeping it that way, you could do a bar top overhang to hide the dishes and have seating. (ignore the design choices) however, with all the room you have, I'd think about expanding. you currently have a G, not a U. you can look up G kitchens and get some ideas if you like. could you put in a window on that wall? (the cabinet wall. could you put in a window?) for instance, if you extended your cabs down to the right, you could put in a window and put your sink under it.: this just shows if you did a window in your current placement. is that possible? trying to show if you extended them down the wall, maybe do a pantry on the end if you need it, and a window and sink in the middle. then do a little built in nook/banquette at the end of the cabinet run: Or extending the cabs down to the Family sign, and create a large island where you can sit and eat. Put a nice large sink in the island. don't even look at the next pic's design choices, just look at the layout. if you extended the kitchen down, made an island w/sink, and did a built in or a table and chairs by the window. looks like this: think about doing a built in banquette breakfast area over by the windows...See MoreUser
