My yearly DQ birthday cake from DH. 66 yesterday. I always think of Glenda because it was also either her son's or grandsons bday.

This was the delicious cake we had for my high school 60th class reunion last Saturday. We had a catered meal and I volunteered to get the cake because options are limited in the small town where we graduated. Our school colors are red and white.

murraysmom, he was here last Saturday and again on Monday. Helped himself to our garage freezer and enjoyed a package of Oreos, cranberries, butter and chicken breasts. You can imagine how completely freaked out I was when I looked up into the tree. Lily was barking like crazy and I RAN inside with her. Police told us there was nothing they or animal control could do, other than shoo him off. A neighbor just told me the bear attacked a dog so they’re going to relocate him...finally! Luckily, the dog will be okay.🙏🏻

Lynn, very frightening! The police officers who came just told us to keep everything locked up. My thought was, ”Great, we have to be hostages in our own house!“😡

chloebud, my only experience with bears was when camping and learning the hard way to hang one's food up onto a branch in a tree. This didn't always work but the bears never came looking at us for food. No food allowed in the tent. Even sunscreen and toothpaste can be sniffed out and eaten. We took some solace in knowing that most of what the bear ate was freeze dried so the first big drink of water might make him explode........

I remember your great picture of the bear with the Oreos. It reminded me of a time that my sister came to visit and unbeknownst to me, brought a 2 lb package of Oreos into the house. She set her stuff down and we went out to get dinner. When we returned, Murray had found and consumed the entire 2 lbs.!! Fortunately it didn't cause him any harm but did make a bit of a mess.

It did strike me that your bear made some good choices in the food he stole. What a nuisance though.

murraysmom, I don’t think I could sleep in a tent if bears might show up! So Murray ate two pounds of Oreos!😳 Not sure, the package our bear took had ”Family Pack” on it. I checked online; it shows 48 cookies and 18-ish ounces. He did open the fridge that only had beverages and some candles and left them alone. That bear appeared to have eaten lots of cookies at lots of homes. I didn’t ask the police but do wonder what would happen had it been a mountain lion that also roam around. This photo shows one after being shot with a tranquilizer in a neighbor’s tree. The bear seemed kind of docile, like having a cow in your yard. LOL, not that I’d ever treat it that way!

I would be lots more afraid of a mountain lion than a bear. Bears don't often come after people and can be scared off. Not that I would do anything but run straight into my house and call 911!!

Exactly what the police told us. They also said, ”Just make a lot of noise by banging on pots/pans.” OMG, not sure what I would have done with a mountain lion in the tree right above me!!! Another story, for sure!!! The police said they won’t shoot the animals with tranquilizers if they’re too high up in the tree since a fall could harm them. I understand but sure don’t want them in my yard!
