I have an ice box, 2026 version.

last month

When I was a kid, refrigerators were often called iceboxes--a carryover from the days when they were just that: tall boxes that held food cooled by large blocks of ice cut from ponds and stored in buildings like my ice house.

I bought myself a new fridge last month. With a history of faulty ice makers, I chose one without this feature. And then I bought myself an "ice box" to hold all the pretty cubes (and balls and hexagons) I'm having fun making. Coffee ice cubes are in a separate container.
