Price point for repairs

last modified: last month

Someone wants to replace my lawn mower carburetor, which costs $55, and their time, for my mower which cost me $180 first go round.

I'm considering ignoring that and buying a new mower, because I've had this one for more than 7 years. I might donate it to him to sell to somebody else.

I've already replaced the filter, the spark plug, and the oil. I don't want to put any more money into it. Not sure what I thought he might do? He's probably right just to replace it.

What's your price percentage, before you move on to the buying the next thing?I'm sure it'd be different if I was buying all new kitchen appliances, for instance.
