A tale of cookies - not the computer kind
So I really like these cookies from a bakery company in Michigan. They are packaged a dozen to a pack, nice big cookies, like homemade. Great texture and flavor. I buy the chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. First found them being sold at Drug Mart for $6.99 a pack, then at an Amish country market I frequent, and then they began showing up at a market in the nearby small city.
But, for the last six months or so I've noticed a change in quality. Most every package had half of the cookies looking like this:
To me, looks like they were packaged stacked warm, thus the concave shape of the bottoms. Also of course like everything else, the cookie has "shrunk", looks thinner.
So I get to thinking. I'm paying $5.75 to $6.99 for these cookies and they are not what they used to be. I should have stopped buying them, but then I also think -as a consumer, I have a right to call this bakery company and complain. lol So I do.
The person I spoke to was very interested in what I had to say and asked for photos and where I purchased the cookies, which I sent (the above, plus a couple others). When she received the emailed photos, she replied that she was grateful for the photos, she would show them to management and send me replacement packs. As for the condition of the cookies, she informed me that they don't actually bake the cookies at their bakery, they have "distributors". Meaning? Contracted bakers receive the raw cookies and they bake them instead? I don't know, I didn't ask.
This all happened Thursday of this week. Just awhile ago, while watching the ballgame, here comes a UPS truck. He brings me a big box! It's heavy. It's from the company in MIchigan. Inside I find four packs of cookies - two oatmeal raisin and two chocolate chip. I'm surprised and quite happy. However.........opened a pack of the oatmeal raisin - first cookie off the top looks the very same as the one in the photo I sent. So did the next two in the stack. LOL!
Well, thought about getting the camera again, but then decided to let it go. I stuck the other three packs in the freezer (they came in individual plastic bags as well ). Sometimes I just get fed up with how much money we are spending on food and other goods and receiving sub-par.

Comments (16)dedtired - I know it sounds like a lot of files, but it really isn't when you count in all the files you get with the software programs like Windows OS, Office and Photoshop. Plus add on's and extentions. It recovered all the files on the hard drive, not just my personal ones. The fun part is that the names of the files were lost so I have to go through each and every one to decided what to keep. It will take me days or even weeks. Ugh! And they might be empty files or junk and corrupted files. Won't know till I open them. compumom, jessyf, triciae - Thanks for the recommendations. I will keep the ones suggested in mind. This one was the first one to actually find something. The others I tried before couldn't find anything at all. DH just bought a new 1 Terra Byte IOMEGA External hard drive 3.0 as a new backup. Comments (18)Unfortunately, no. I have a little pebble-bottomed stream bed that goes from the downspout under the Japanese Maple, through the flower bed, to the lawn. It suffers from neglect. I looked at by pbase album and am ashamed to say that the garden looked better when the pictures were taken than they did this year. Two years of no energy or time left over for the garden have taken their toll. Plus, this spring, when one's fancy turns to gardens, I was being told I would have to dig mine up! Comments (613)Cindy - some how I missed your post about Dwarf Firebird Sweet. Those fruit are bigger than any on my dwarfs. The striping looks a lot like Girl Girl's Weird Thing. Do you have it growing in a container or in the garden? So far I've saved seed from 10 tomato varieties this year. I finished off cleaning 6 of them last night. Dwarf Mr. Snow, Dwarf Beauty King, Dwarf Tasmanian Chocolate, Pink Ping Pong, Jaune Flamme, Pruden's Purple, Girl Girl's Weird Thing, Kellogg's Breakfast potato leaf, Brandywine Suddeth, and Black from Tula. I still want to save seeds from Wes, German Johnson, Rebel Yell, NAR, Pineapple, and Livingston Yellow Oxheart. I might save some from the other dwarfs as well just in case someone wants some even if I don't plan to grow them again any time soon....See More
