What's the Easiest Way to Get Rid of Cookies?

On the computer, that is. I asked this on the computer forum a month ago but got different answers. (I have firefox and windows xp.) I've come to realize that before searching and re-searching travel fares it's best to get rid of all cookies and search history first to avoid higher fares.

I have XP and Firefox. Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies, Remove all Cookies.

This old fossil didn't think of the most modern version of cookies ...

... and figured that, as an advisory regarding how to manage one's life, having been told that, though we have two ears and two eyes, but only one mouth and tongue, that it's wiser to watch and listen that to open one's big fat mouth too frequently ...

... but, that said, I find that one can demolish quite a few cookies with only one mouth.

Without sharing any with the dog.

Mcg... There are numerous, chemical insecticides around. I for one do not use chemicals, unless absolutely necessary. I've repeated my experience with scale, GW members are probably tired of hearing.. :) I've sucessfully killed and never again seen scale on my plants for years.. In 1999, I bought an Olive tree from an online nursery. Tree arrived at night. I placed the tree in-between two citrus trees. I 'usually' mist plants daily, but for some reason I skipped the following day.. Two days later, while spraying, I noticed a brown bump on the olive tree. I walked up to inspect and discoverd olive PACKED w/scale. From top to bottom foliage. Not only were scale on the olive tree, but also moved to the nearest citrus branches. I recalled a woman who owns a citrus nursery in Fl telling me she uses Fish Emulsion as a scale preventative. I phoned her, explained the situation..she gave me dosage instructions. 1 capful Fish Emulsion and about 16oz, 'give or take,' water. I mixed FE and water, then sprayed away..I sprayed the olive, citrus and other neighboring plants...in case. Honest to God, within 24-hours, all signs of scale were gone. Erased for good I don't remember if it was 3-days or 1-week later, but I spayed a second applicaton. To this day, I've never found scale on any plant, and I have quite a few. The only problem with FE is it has a fishy odor, but the smell only lasts 2-3 days, 'indoors.' Besides, it's worth the odor if scale appear on a favorite plant/s. Fish Emulsion is organic, and mainly used to fertilize plants. FE won't burn leaves or roots since it's chemical-free. There are other oils, but they don't fertillize..So, I think, spraying with FE as completing two jobs. In autumn, I spray summered, outdoor plants w/FE and other non-chemical items so scale and mites die before bringing back indoors. I also spray with this mix on plants that remain inside year round. Easiest/cheapest way to get rid of large yard waste?

Jey - I'm local too and since I do landscaping professionally, disposing of debris (and a LOT of it sometimes) is a pretty routine occurrence. Here's what I'd suggest: grab a copy of the Little Nickle (at any 7-11) and call a few hauling services listed there for estimates. Be able to supply them with an approximate size of the pile you need to dispose of, although they should come by personally to give you an estimate. And that will include dump fees. They will take it to a yard waste recycling station or to Pacific Topsoils, as that is the cheapest way to dispose of it for them also. At least you'll be assured the stuff is being recycled. 1-800-Got-Junk works too but they may be more expensive. An alternative is to contact Pacific Topsoils. They also recycle yard waste. And they rent containers by the day with a delivery and pick-up fee that is a lot less than the county. And they have yards all over the county, so should be convenient to you. And yes, all of King County's yard and kitchen waste is recycled into compost - Cedar Grove Composting. But they don't give it away for free :-) I've broached this subject here a couple of times, but the recycling process and Cedar Grove in particular is cutting edge and a very large and high standard commercial composting operation. Certified organic Cedar Grove Compost is sold all over the county at nurseries, garden centers, groceries and box stores. Unfortunately, unless you have the means yourself via a chipper or truck, disposing of a large pile of garden debris is going to cost in this area. btw, King County transfer stations charge by the weight not the truck load, so other than a bit extra for gas, multiple trips to the recycling transfer center will not cost any more than one, single, massive load. Yard waste is $82.50 per ton. (good to know so the hauling guys don't gouge you, although they should be paying a lower, commercial rate). I so wish the local animal control, or fish and game would come take care of the skunk I accidentally caught in my life trap (intended for cats that kill the yard birds). Anyway, I called local, state, fed. and they all said the same, "good luck." So this poor skunk is slowly starving/choking to death, because I'm cowardly and don't want to get sprayed or have the front yard stink for a month...so I have to find a way to deal with this! If the law, which I doubt, says I can't "relocate", then I'm left with killing the poor thing! This is going to haunt me in my nightmares! As for Kimmsr and her "well written" and well-researched input: state laws vary widely, it's best to call and find out if they'll help you before doing anything! Here are some ideas: Deodorize With Charcoal Charcoal is a tried-and-true odor removal technique that can be used to deodorize any powerful chemical odor. It's an excellent room deodorizer because of its large surface area, and its odor-adsorbent qualities. You can use activated carbon, but ordinary cooking charcoal is usually enough to remove the solvent odors from a freshly-painted room. Here's how you can use charcoal to remove the paint smell from a room: Ã¢ÂÂ¢Lightly crush whole pieces of wood charcoal into small pieces. It's OK to pulverize the charcoal into fine powder, but the particles may float around and stick to the wet paint. Ã¢ÂÂ¢Place the charcoal pieces inside a bucket together with some pieces of wet paper towels or rags. Ã¢ÂÂ¢Place the bucket in the middle of the room and leave it there overnight. The charcoal will then absorb the odors and fumes from the solvent, leaving you with a fresh-smelling room the next day. Light a Candle One time-tested way to get rid of solvent fumes from a freshly-painted room is to light a candle or a match to burn out the fumes. A trick used by many veteran house painters is to light a candle in the middle of the room and let it stay there for about three hours. The open flame will burn out the flammable substances in the solvent, like benzene and other hydrocarbons. Candles and matches still pose a potential fire hazard, especially if you've just painted an enclosed space. To minimize the risk of fire, place the candle on top of a bowl or a saucer of water to catch the hot wax, and prevent fire from spreading. It may also help to make a small dome out of wire netting to catch candle soot, especially if you've painted your ceiling. Use a Bucket of Water If you don't want to risk a fire hazard by lighting a candle to burn off the fumes, you can simply place a few buckets of water in the middle and around the room to absorb the solvent vapors. While not as effective as a candle, it is a safer option especially if you're painting a room finished or made with wood. The odors will be removed overnight, although you'll still have a faint smell of solvent that will linger and will go away in time.

I have Firefox, not sure if it's Windows XP but I think so.
I do this:

Under Tools, go down to Internet Options. On the General tab, you have an option to delete cookies and other saved stuff. I don't like to do this because then I have to re-sign in every where I go (like GardenWeb) and it's a nuisance. But no harm really done, after a day or week I'm all set to go again with my favorite websites.

I have more than one browser going so I usually use Ccleaner for cleaning that up on occasion. Otherwise you should be running something like Spybot to eliminate the malicious ones. Some cookies are innocuous while others are trouble. Not totally unlike those in the jar on the kitchen counter.

on CCleaner you have the option to save certain cookies and get rid of the rest (save Garden Web and certain other passwords)

Lol at all of you! In re-reading the title, I see I would think it's about the edible kind too. Thanks everyone for the instructions; I think I've got it now. Does anyone else think cookies are left after a travel search so that rates will be raised the next time you check with the same site? I read of that possibility in an article recently, and I wouldn't put it past them.

I guess anything's possible but considering the way some outfits are hurting, I'd think they would look for ways to attract customers rather than drive them to competitors. If you have two computers you could do a little test and see what happens.

About once every 2 to 3 days, my virus checker, Norton Security Suite, runs a cookie cleaner and weeds out all tracking cookies. I have it set to ask before removing these.

It seems that I pick up a lot of tracking cookies from this "Home Site". Some may come from clicking on links in posted messages. On rare occassions, those links have contained visious stuff.

I have my FF browser set so that when a site wants to set a cookie it asks me "every time". I can tell it deny, allow, or allow for session. I use the allow for session option on almost everything. When you close the browser, they all go away. Its under Tools, Options, Privacy.

I'm not sure if you can do the same with IE. I try to avoid using IE.
