Not as grand as others posted here, but a church nearby where the last scene in The Graduate (wedding) was filmed. Of all the churches in SoCal, we’ve always wondered why this particular one was chosen.

Perhaps because of those huge windows, chloebud? The scene through that glass at the end is pretty iconic.

Carol, that could be a good reason. They could’ve had a vision of that, then started searching for the right church and windows. I have a friend whose street in Pasadena was used over and over again for various commercials, TV shows and films. My friend once asked a film crew member if he knew why. He said it was mainly because the street could be ”Anywhere, USA.” She and her husband were paid extremely well for allowing film crews to use her front yard for their lunch breaks.

There's a nearby church that was used in the final scenes of Valley of the Dolls, supposedly because they thought it looked like the "quintessential New England church". I suspect too it's because the lay of the land was that there was a level quiet street/green area in front which gave them lots of room to set up equipment and such. Several nearby churches would've filled the bill imho, but the streets/hills/trees, etc. in front would've made that more difficult.
