@ HU-113737678, we're just outside of Richmond, on the SE cusp of the storm so 1-2 " max is predicted, hope that doesn't change as we're also sick of snow and ready for some groundhog stew, nyuk. Also still have mountains of plowed snow in parking lots from the ice/sleet/snowstorm 2 weeks ago. Luckily dodged the power outages from that close call.

This forecast just keeps getting worse. I am going to lose my mind stuck in the house.

Tried to go to the nearby grocer and it was a madhouse. I got out of that parking lot fast. I was able to get a few things at the $$$ organic food store so Ill be fine, food-wise.

The most accurate forecaster near me is a local middle school science teacher. He predicts 14” and two, maybe three days of virtual school.

Thank goodness we had real snow days growing up. Guess Ill make a lot of progress on my jigsaw puzzle.

My son just called from New Hampshire, where he's been skiing all over New England for the last ten days. With all this snow coming, maybe he'll be living up there, unable to get home.

Blizzard warnings are up and they are talking 18-24" in our area, so that last one was just a practice run...this one is game time!!

Yesterday, Friday, it started snowing. When I looked out a little while later it was completely gone. None at all. Odd weather in Colorado.

I foolishly tried to make a grocery run for just a few things I still wanted. The parking lot was total bedlam. There are still a number of parking spaces taken up by mountains of snow left from the last storm.

Once again, I gave up and left. There was one handicapped space I could have used with my expired placard but I didnt feel right about that. In the meantime a guy in a Kia Telluride parked nearly in the center of a lane. Cars could just barely make it around his car. I just dont understand how some people can be so entitled.

Strange how the thought of being stuck indoors for two or three days makes us feel like we need to pack our kitchens to the gills. Im sure around here nearly everyone could live for a week or more with what they already have, including me.

Now I am battened down and ready for the foot and a half of snow on the way. Yuck.

I am sorry for all those facing another big snow storm! This time we are just getting light snow that is melting as it hits the street.

I am still using food I bought for our big snow at the end of January!! That is such a curious mentality to need to stock up on food like it will be a month until you can go again. I have never been able to shake it though. Stay safe everyone.

People in Mississippi were running out of food because of the ice storm at the end of January. Some still won’t have power until next month. It never hurts to stock up with stuff that will last. I keep Nido dried milk powder. I need to find a good brand of the dried buttermilk powder.

I need to check the propane gas bottles for my grill and outdoor stove. And charcoal for the Weber. We are only going to have a couple of days of cold weather this time, but tornado and hurricane season are coming up.

Sister's visiting from NYC - already rescheduled her flight back, but she just may have to do it again, depending on whether roads there are clear by Tuesday...

Heavy flurries here in the Shenandoah valley. wind us going to pick up the next couple days the sunny milder again.

So far so good, just 1/2 inch of rain here since this morning. No snow yet, but it's still expected to be 1 inch if anything before ending at mid-night.

....oops, just glanced out the window and it's now snowing (~4:30 EST), temp has now dipped down to 35F so it's very wet snow.

All day rain here, and we were supposed to get 9-12 inches.

i feel terrible for those facing this storm. no snow here but after 60s last week, we are in the teens during the day and close to single digits overnight.

after november, i could go the rest of my life without seeing another single snowflake! we had 11" in 2 days. my garage door had a huge drift in front of it, i couldn't open the door for 5 days and even if i could have gotten my van out, i wouldn't have been able to go anywhere since our area is the last to get plowed. i stocked up on everything, including dog food, so i was ok but i always worry about one of the dogs getting sick and not being able to get to the vet.

stay safe, everyone in the path of the storm. hopefully, snowmageddon will fizzle out before it gets too bad!

Well, the all-day rain finally turned to a heavy wet snow and there are power outages everywhere.

We're at the very tip outside edge of this front, and it is blisteringly cold, incredibly windy, and spitting snow. Consequently, I am more than just with you in spirit. 2 out of 3 is enough to remind me every moment of what you're experiencing.

I think we are at 14”, more in drifts, less in protected areas. Power was out for a couple hours overnight. All the neighborhood generators kicked in around 3 a.m. but it came back on after two hours. My street has been plowed multiple times, not that Im going anywhere. Some neighbors are out shoveling and I am waiting for the guys who clear snow for me.

Heres my flamingmometer this morning. Hes about 9 inches tall.

I went out to feed the birds at 7am and we had 16" at that time...it's still heavy drifting snowfall and looks like it will continue until 3 or 4pm.

Wow, you guys are getting hammered. Everything got covered here but the street remained clear without plowing and even though it's really cold, the driveways seem to be melting. I really hope this is the last snow for this winter. I know I don't have it as bad as some of you so I really can't complain. I hope everyone and their pets stay safe and stay warm. It's hard to believe that February is almost over. I think it is my least favorite month of the year.

Lily, are you loving the cold weather? I remember how much you hate the heat.

I still do like the cold weather 100 times better than the humid, sweltering days of summer. It's actually not that cold here at 36, which is good for getting some of the heavy snow to slide off the trees. I wasn't fond of the three weeks we never came close to 32 with daytime temps in the teens, single digits at night. We broke a record since the 1970s with snow on the ground for almost a month. I still hiked every day.

Lily, I have to admit to hating the hot weather, especially when it’s fall here in SoCal. People elsewhere in the country are enjoying cool/crisp soup weather, and my pumpkin displays outside are baking. That being said, it’s pretty nice this time of year. I well remember winters in Michigan as a kid.🥶

Its alteady melting here outside of Philadelphia and the cars semm to be getting around well. Not many places to go though since many businesses closed for the day. My driveway, etc were cleared already. I am grateful that I have a reliable snow removal person.

I am concerned about my neighbors. She has Parkinsons and he is in his early 80s and very stubborn. I think they are just getting by financially and wont pay to have anyone clear the snow. I almost sent my guy over to clear them out on my dime but the husband would not take that very well, Im sure. Their son lives in NJ near Maire Cate I think so maybe he will show up and help.

Just looked out the window. Yep, the husband is out there shoveling. I will keep an eye out in case I need to call an ambulance!

It's melting around here too, and the roads are dry. I still did the mall walk because I didn't know how the country roads would be. Some mall stores were closed.

murraysmom Zone 6a OH…..I was born and lived as a child in Youngstown, much different snow winters than in Colorado…

oh dear Ded - I hope your elderly neighbor is all right. This snow is really wet and heavy, and it sticks to the shovel. I went on the rear patio an hour ago to clear a path to the bird feeders so that I could refill them. I could barely lift a full shovel and then had to bang it against the railing to dislodge the snow.

^^^spray your shovel with silicone or even vegetable oil spray and the snow won't stick.

pekemom, I am orginally from and back in Cincinnati again. I lived first in San Francisco from '73 until '84 when I moved to Baltimore from '84 until '98 when I came back home. I know for certain that climate change is real because while we had snow in Baltimore, it wasn't often and it wasn't so deep except with the occasional blizzard which I only experienced once. But now I see all these storms both rain and snow pummeling the east coast. I'm glad I am back in Ohio, away from those extremes. You would have gotten a lot more snow in Youngstown than we do/did here in southern Ohio. And in Colorado, as you know, while there can be a lot of snow, there is also a lot of sunshine.

murraysmom I remember Youngstown snow as being ”heavier”, Colorado snow is less so. Of course maybe it is just a childhood memory…

Here in Massachusetts we got well over 35 inches of snow. They ordered the snow plows off the roads because they were getting stuck. The town of Plymouth actually cancelled their EMS service because the ambulances couldn’t get out. Crazy!

We got about 20" though hard to tell as there was so much drifting. I may go measure it later if I have the gumption.

pekemom, it could actually be lighter snow in Colorado if it is a dry snow. Our Ohio snows tend to be heavier, lots of moisture and it is so hard to shovel if it gets even 5" deep.

The totals for the weekend storm were sobering. Lots of places got over 30". Jakeseacrest, I hope you are able to deal with that much snow or at least not have to go out into it for awhile. Did I hear more is coming? I hope I have that wrong.

Annie, 20" is quite a lot too. At least it would be here. I hope you can manage it well.

Man-o-man, RI and other nearby areas got clobbered with 3 ft of wet heavy snow, that much snow on one's roof would be quite worrisome. Good luck up there!

Thanks murraysmom. We're about cleaned out now. DH uses the big snow blower and I use the little electric one and we get 'er done!

Thing is they're talking 1-3" tomorrow and another dose on Friday am. Ugh!

Annie, true Spring can't come fast enough. Sounds like you have Round 1 under control. Hopefully the next one will be much more manageable.

Actually that was round 2! I went to empty ashes on the field and was walking in thigh deep snow as the last snow bank (10") never melted!

Here's me...I had to shovel twice as the snow avalanched off the solar panels and more than filled the path the 2nd time.

Yikes!!! It's going to take a lot of warmer temps to get rid of all that!!! Ours lasted two weeks and I was so thankful when it finally went away. We got just a bit yesterday and it's not really staying around. I hope you get the same very soon!!!

Wow, thankfully we didn't get that much here, only over six inches. The town a few miles away only got an inch. My yard paths were cleared from the last snow and now I'll just wait till the sun melts them again. I did see my previously swimming koi are nowhere to be seen down at the bottom again.
