A Touching Gift from a Garden Junk Friend
Comments (6)What a gorgeous ornament, and an incredible gift. It almost made me cry too! I like that you have it in the doggy den to watch over Marley. It is so special and now you can see it every day and not just at Christmas. Your doggy den turned out really nice. Tho doesn't Toeby consider it a "cat house"? LOL. I am so glad you plan to get Marley a friend, he will really love that. Goldens are such dear, sweet dogs. (my son, Jason, has one that is almost 10 yrs old.) Chelcass, you are so talented as well as a sweet, generous friend. hugs, Karen...See MoreAnyone asking for gardening gifts??
Comments (5)I think I will be asking husband and son for labor instead of stuff. I got my garden shed refloored with cement and reorganized somewhat. I am in the process of making things easier to find with shelving. I do have to share with working tools and fishing supplies, but shed is 14'x24', higher ceiling, so should have lots of room. I need some tool hangers made up after we get the shelving set up and stuff sorted onto them. Things will be more visible on shelving and bins, than piled on floor, corners and work bench. Hangers are for weed whackers, loads of shovels, rakes, cutters, farm maintainance tools. Just so many weird shapes and sizes! Son and husband both weld, so I can get special hangers that fit tools, make them visible on wall storage places. Guys also are good about driving loads of dirt up to my new garden beds and digging big holes for shrubs and small trees. My mom already got me a new white Christmas cactus. We didn't know they came in white until last year when she saw one. It is blooming like crazy, pretty with airy looking flowers....See MoreHoliday Gift ideas for the Gardener
Comments (7)Last year I got a special tarp liner for our van. It's excellent to keep it cleaner hauling mulches and things in bags and also bails. Honestly, I've pretty much given up asking for or hoping to get any garden related stuff for Christmas. Everyone avoids buying me the books I want (they will go to the discount store and get me some random garden book that has no bearing on anything specific, or if it does, it might not have specifics to my own needs)... if I get a gift certificate I will happily get what I like then!...See MoreGift of a Garden: Please Advise
Comments (1)If you want something as beautiful as Gerberas but hardy, try Tanacetum 'Robinsons Mix', 'Robinsons Red' or 'James Kelway'. It's often sold under the common name of "Painted Daisy". WONDERFUL, tough and gorgeous. You should also try to get coneflowers and black eyed susans - easy to care for and long blooming. I'll bet if you ask any gardeners in the area, they'd gladly share starts with you! You're a sweet sister....See More
