Comments (33)Yes - to those who asked if I meant to say "broiler" rather than grill, for finishing salmon fillet cooked in a Le Creuset grill pan but seared on the cooktop first. I have never worried about the temperature restriction for this pan, since our oven is a convection oven and I believe the broiler get to about 450 and that's all. I also don't put it on the top shelf, but use the 2nd one. Naturally, we like it cooked well, as all salmon should be. So for a 6-8 oz fillet - depending on thickness - I pre-heat the grill pan on the cooktop (set at 5, which gets it really hot) for 4 minutes; spray with Pam; put in the fillets and sear 1.5-2 min per side (so it is only turned over once), then put in oven under preheated broiler for another 3-4 minutes. When done, I put on pre-heated plates in the bottom oven (set at 200 and used as a warming drawer) to rest until everything else is ready to eat. PS: prior to searing, I always skin the fillets....See MoreColorful Mexican Kitchens Part V111!
Comments (150)'Morning, Solman! It's dark as a dungeon and damp as the dew, Where danger is double and pleasures are few, Where the rain never falls and the sun never shines It's dark as a dungeon way down in the mine. Us coalmine canaries don't know night from day, and we don't sing. We just wheeze when things get dicey then croak. And it's not even 10:00 a.m.! Steff, thanks for explaining the whole matching pot thing. It never occurred to me to think of what they looked like on display! And in my old kitchen I kept the Le Creuset on the stove/counter, because I didn't have anywhere to put them away. But that's just visible, not display And I thought they looked good with the hood and the poppy (they came first) but I never thought about displaying them, or any other pots. Other than the classic French pot rack with copper pots, which always seemed more decorative than functional to me anyway, I've just never considered it. So...lightbulb goes on! People display matched sets of pots. Interesting... ACK!!!! I just realized that I didn't see a soup pot during the Le Creuset festival. They better not have discontinued it!!! It's the best pot ever! Glad the plants are okay....See MoreSiiiiiiii-e-lent Night...Hoooo-oh-ly Night.....
Comments (45)Raye, I am absolutely positive that if the lights gave them headaches i would hear about it endlessly. As I said those people who whine LOVE to do so about anything and everything they can. So if they had a solid medical reason to complain they would without hesitation. They turn them on because they are fuddy duddies which is not a medical condition but a character flaw. How do I know? For years there was an orange tabby cat named Joe at the facility. Some of us would let him in the office to sleep or hang out from time to time. The night fuddy duddy did not know this for around 6 months. When he found out,all of a sudden he feigned an allergy to cats. I still let the cat in. I do have an allergy to cats,a pretty severe one and simply took a Claritin every day. Didnt bother me.I told night fuddy duddy I stopped letting him in. Magicaly his deathly cat allergy didnt bother him anymore when he didn't think there was something to back it up. (He has 3 cats in his home now, btw. They belong to his grandaughter, who lives with him. This was a few years ago and he denies any of it happened) This man has had every joint replaced or tuned up in the years I have been there. And I JUST worked two of HIS shifts in a row because he got a flu shot and now thinks he's is on deaths door. If the lights gave him a headache, I would know about it. He calls me at least twice a week while I am at work to list his ailments. The day fuddy duddy decorates her own home and was VERY proud of her tree which rotates and changes colors and has several different light patterns. She only makes snide comments about MY decor. As I said before, she has a difficult and undesirable personality that leads her to disparage others efforts for whatever reason. And that does not apply to just me or my decor. Anything positive or fun that any of us try to do she has something nasty to say about it. Its. WEIRD. Besides, both of them declare they LOVE the decor and look forward to it and ask me when it's going up. Then it goes up, and the mood changes..... Tell you what. I'll mention your headache suggestion to them. They probably just haven't thought of it,as it doesn't apply to them. The would LOVE another reason to complain. Even if it's a lie....See MoreIts not even pink!
Comments (53)I am not sure how i decide what gets named and what doesn't to be honest...... And while i love pink everything, I am also a huge sucker for fall and winter and the holidays in those seasons. My kitchen will be decorated with fall stuff and then Christmas themed things in their season. Then, back to all pink, all the time....See More- 6 months ago
