Carmex and vaseline. Mainly carmex for chapped, vaseline nightly or if my lips aren’t chapped. And during other times, I honestly have been just using up what I have, whether it came from a shop or a hotel or was a gift kit.

The Blistex, the middle in the photo, is my go-to lip balm. I've used it for many years. They once had the unscented version that I liked even more but cannot find it anymore. I am highly allergic to Carmex, makes my lips raw right away.

Remember in the old days when it was very wax-like? I heard that some people ( stars, models) used it as a base coat to help keep their lipstick on.

Remember how it was difficult to apply in very cold weather if you happend to have it in an outside coat pocket?

Oh yes, Blistex too. I recently finished a tube that wasn’t the chapped kind, but very moisturizing. It was nice.

My favorite Nivea Intense Moisture is no longer available. I've been using an Aquaphor stick and it's okay, but not great.

What does ”melty type” mean? i wouldn’t want too melty.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy is the best stuff I've ever used. My dermatologist recommended it. It's not in the convenient lip balm type tube, however. That's its major drawback but can be used on other body parts.

A few years ago I bought some of that along with a sheepskin like pad for an acquaintance who was at risk of bed sores.

My lips feel dry all the time. Sometimes I wonder if the menthol in certain lip balms doesn’t aggravate my sensitive lips.

I like these two. Melem was recommended to us at a ski resort many years ago when a granddaughter had really chapped lips and cheeks from skiing the first time. Was nearly healed the next day. We bought the round tin then and now they sell a tube.

My other favorite is Bioderma. It glides on so smoothly and feels great (Melem does too). I cannot stand the waxy feel of Chap Stick or the sticky, fruity or menthol ones. Neither of these have that.

That's the one. I always buy the 3 pack too. Did you know it makes a great balm for those little mystery cracks on hands or fingers as well as paper cuts? I sometimes get dermatitis in the web area between my fingers. Chapstick to the rescue. I keep one for lips and another with a dot sticker for multi use.

In looking up various lip balm and moisturizing products, I think I have encountered a few with vitamins. It appears that vitamins are not absorbed through human skin.

Another unflavored plain ol' ChapStick user here, for several decades. Never liked the greasy ones.

Burt’s Bees for me……

Plain, clear colored Avon lip balm. Or Vaseline. I’ve never been able to use Chapstick because it feels too heavy/waxy to me. So does Burt’s Bees.

If I have severe cracking or a cold sore, I like Blistex.

Littlebug, I believe those two have some bees wax in the formulation. That might be why you don’t like them.

I also use Burt’s Bees. Kiehl’s lip balm is good (along with their Creme de Corps body lotion👍🏻).

I never bought their products, but many years ago a friend gave me some Mary Kay lip balm that she would buy from a friend of hers. It was the best I've ever used and I used it for years...then they discontinued it. I buy and try many different kinds but nothing ever compared. I don't like chapstick because it's too firm and tears my lips. I also don't want petroleum products in my mouth.

I recently tried a little pot of Earth Mama's Organic Nipple cream that I read about somewhere. For nursing mothers, but it says you can use anywhere (I figured if it's safe for babies, I'm good). I love it! The only downside is it comes in a little jar, so not as handy as a tube, but I find I don't need to apply it very often.

O'Keefe's Lip Repair. The Night Treatment comes in a (very) little jar, and rescued my lips when I was in the hospital. For the first few weeks I was too sick to think about what was happening to my lips, and they got so bad I looked as though I'd been in a fight.

O'Keefe's Working Hands is the best thing I know for those painful finger cracks that can happen in winter.

Blistex is the only lip balm for me - and I have tried just about everything. Though I understand it's not exactly ideal due to some of the ingredients. I have one in every coat pocket, car, three kitchen drawers, living room end and coffee tables, multiple desk drawers, two in my purse, and stashed in various other places too numerous to name. It's probably all in my head, but I cannot rest if I don't have a Blistex on my person or within arm's reach.

@Bluebell66, that would be me, too. I almost go into panic mode if there’s not one very close by.

@Blubell66 and @chloebud — I am with you on that. Burning chapped lips drive me mad-nuts; so I have to be sure lip rescue is always with me.

I have been sleeping with the three brands in the top photo and prefer the Blistex Medicated lip balm. The mint or menthal is not as strong as the others. It goes on in a light coating and seems to stay on well.

It contains some lanolin. I like that. Made in USA, $1.20

Re O’Keefe’s, I’ve never used any of their products other than working hands but will try the lip stuff based on the above rec. How quickly it heals my deeply cracked fingers seems almost unnatural!

Thanks for reminding me, FOOD. DH often gets split fingers from dry weather. I used to think it was from chalk use, but it seems to be dry weather. What is the name of the product you like?
