Do you set up New Year goals or do an annual records clean up?

It’s almost time for Happy New Year TKT friends! As I’ve started my annual sorting through and purging both electronic & paper files I wondered if doing this is common practice for most people at some point each year. I generally feel that my & my DH affairs are in pretty good order but when I start sorting through files I’m still surprised at what I find. That’s mostly because my DH & I have different organizational styles. A few months ago I helped my 87 year old & in declining health aunt move from her home of 30 years into an assisted living community. She has long been pretty organized in her personal business affairs & has been cleaning out & paring down for years & is still in full possession of her mental faculties. Still, moving her was a monumental job compounded by her living in another state than I do. I’m applying some lessons learned from helping her to my annual cleaning & organizing this year. I want the person who has to rifle through my business after I’m gone to be remarking how well organized I am and not cursing the mess I’ve left. That may be my DH or it may be my favorite younger sibling - one never knows! My question to TKT is this - what’s the typical preparation you do or have done for your end of days event?
