Ribeye saves the day

I've been enjoying the post about spatch cocking turkeys and chickens. We've done several chickens but never Turkey. We both loved the results. Fast cooking and very tasty chicken. We may try that method on a turkey sometime too.

Our Thanksgiving this year was memorable. I prefer fresh turkey instead of frozen, so I bought a ten pound turkey about a week before the big day. A family member offered to deep fry it. We've used this method for the past several years. The cook called and said the turkey had a sulphur smell. We googled it and google said don't eat it. Turns out there was a small slit in the package wrapper and had allowed it to spoil and this is when we went into panic mode. I happened to remember that we had 3 ribeyes in the freezer and someone else came up with another one. We wound up with grilled ribeye steaks, riced potatoes, dressing, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie and pecan cream pie. No turkey but we did fine.
