swee' pea, my second dane about 17 years ago. she came from rescue, completely shut down, afraid of her own shadow. it took many weeks but she eventually became a big love bug who didn't know a stranger. this picture was taken the first time she attempted the "dane sit" on the couch. she looked at me as if to ask "am i doing this right?" 💖

What a day for a duck butt...

I am very thankful for this silly rescue girl who came into my life only a week ago. She is settling in so well. She is fun and happy and smart. Her name is Lacey. She is 6 years old. She is a Toy Poodle. She has met her much bigger dog neighbors with a calm energy. Every meet so far has been very positive. I really couldn't ask for more.

Looking through photos of Thanksgiving past when we lived in the Netherlands in a narrow row house - this was our galley kitchen on Turkey Day 2007. This was it for counter space! The turkey was difficult to find - it was raised in France.

This was our fridge. We were lucky to have a bottom freezer of sorts that allowed us ice cubes. I shopped for groceries several times a week.

Pointsettia which I recycled from Christmas 2 years ago. Blooming! I'm happy about that.

PS the owl had a job keeping hawks away when we kept a bird on the patio.

Socks, her owner went into a nursing home and the family did not want the dog. Crazy I know but I know that it isn't always possible to integrate a dog into a family. It's totally my gain. She's the darling of the neighborhood now. :) I love seeing outside plants when it is no longer viable for me at this time of year.

Seagrass, I love your holiday pictures. It instantly put me in mind of when I lived in San Francisco and every Thanksgiving was with friends because we all had family elsewhere. It was the best of times. Thanks for bringing that back for me. Happy Thanksgiving.

A bit late, but we made paper Indian corn this past week - it's just balls of tissue paper glued to thin card board, then glazed with Mod Podge, and raffia tied at the top

That was in Petra (Jordan). A truly amazing place to see, and I'm glad I got the opportunity before I became too old and/or immobile to make the walk to even the first stop. Camels and their handlers were there, offering rides to tourists.
