Comments (2)rosemeadow gardener (what a pretty screen name), There are so many beautiful pink ones out there, but I think Awakening is among the most reliable and continuous bloomers, wouldn't make a good cut rose, although few of them last very long before they shatter unless you protect them in the fridge for something special. It's hard to find the best method for rooting, isn't it? I think it takes an unknown x-factor, something akin to a green thumb. I've tried so many different things trying to find the best way for me. I may try some more outside again as I got about three to root that way, one in bare ground, but it took like 8 cuttings per batch to just get one success, a few 3 times trying. All mine so far were on the east side, nice spot, and I think they got too much morning sun even though I tried to shield them with old screens in the morning. Plus they like constant temps, and our summers the temps fluctuate; that's why I opted to try inside. One actually rooted with the mason jar method late, then left it thru the winter, leafed right out in the spring, and I almost didn't get the jar off fast enough as it fried a little, then had to protect again on cold nights. I balk at setting up a misting system, but people seem to have the highest success rate with that although some here are getting pretty good using alternate methods. So I may try the bottles outside again. Intuitively I was concerned about leaves touching the bottle, but it doesn't really seem to be an issue. It's just kind of fun to always have a couple going, gives me something to keep me interested and look forward to. Thanks for the response....See MoreBe sure to check out our Gallery section
Comments (7)I don't have a problem with where you post either as long as you post!! We just want to make sure everyone knows about and visits all 3 places so they don't miss out on anything. I know when I was a newbie, it took me a long time to figure out that there were other sides on most of the forums. Almost every week I see someone posting that they didn't know about them so now I try to tell everyone too. Happy Valentines Day. ~Anj...See MoreFridge/pantry placement - just making sure w/pic
Comments (3)Yeah, that was my reasoning too when we first drew it up. Then I was thinking that although we access the fridge more, we linger at the pantry longer. Though we are a one cook family, DD does use the kitchen when I'm cooking a couple of times a week, and we're constantly bumping into each other. That's why the MW is in an upper away from the range. With frameless cabinets, it may be possible to not have to open the pantry doors at some wild angle to pull out the shelves. I'll have to check on that. Since it's going to be so wide, maybe if he uses enough filler between the two it won't be a problem. DH says I won't be extending the shelves the whole 24" every time. I'll keep the less used stuff to the back. Thanks for validating my first decision. Sometimes you get to second guessing when it's almost time to finalize....See More- 9 months ago
