I was so anxious to contribute our favorites that I missed the decision for Twilight Zones and ,Addams Family. Have a good time celebrating! We will be at an outdoor performance of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on Saturday night, but tonight will find me watching Ernest....there's a scene in the movie that cycles through all his many characters, including the Miami matron, that I look forward to every year, and Eartha Kitt is at her scariest in this one :-). Happy Halloween, everyone! ðÂÂÂð»

I'm baaaaccccckkkkk! The surgery went very smoothly and I actually feel pretty darn good. I am happy to report that the doc found no problems with the ovaries so they got to stay. The only time I've felt "pain" was Tuesday, just after surgery. They hooked me up to the pain pump and that was the end of it. I am now doing the oral narcotics and they have it all under control nicely. I have to say that it's soooo good to be back home! My skin crawls with the narcotics so having my own (cotton) sheets, pj's, towels, etc. makes all the difference in the world. So, all I can say at this point is that things are going very well, and it really was not all that bad after all :) I'm still very tired, though, so I'll have to settle in with a movie--I'm quite sure I'll fall asleep watching it, but that is just fine! Thanks again for your encouragement and advice--you guys have been super! I hope you are all having a terrific Thanksgiving day!

Enchanted April is one of my all-time favorite movies....have you seen it? It's a period, British romantic comedy from the 1920's which is charming and funny. The four female characters range in age from 20's to 70-ish, are single, not happily married and widowed (I think). It won the Golden Globe (for acting I believe). Oops....I checked, and Netflix no longer has it to stream.....but my library has it so I assume others may also? It's a gentle, visually luscious film.....not slapsticky comedy. I believe you'd love it.

I really did not realize the scope of this happening. Not that I am surprised. Another issue that seems to be a bit obscure, but on a different subject, is the issue of predatory patents. I had no idea! This is just as predatory, and maybe even more predatory than what was portrayed in this movie. It is a deep and muddy bucket, but what happens is that a patent if applied for and granted for something that we all assume is just common. Then, these shell companies are established to exploit and file suits against individuals and business out of the clear blue for not paying a fee for something that was considered to be common. One example is that someone applied for a patent on how to use a telephone. That patent was granted and made it possible to exploit money from unsuspecting people. I know it sounds impossible, but it is not. That is an extreme example, but I have determined that I have seen enough evidence to conclude that it happened. Not only are people applying for patents for everyday things, but there all shell companies set up to sue and never be held accountable. For some reason, the hot bed of this had been in east Texas. It is said that it was the result of local judges being paid off. That is much like the story in the movie. There are several greedy hands in the cookie jars. I saw a documentary about this, on Netflix, I think. It was a couple of years ago. I read this morning that, as those on the lower economic scale are struggling to stay afloat in this troubled year, those at the top are sucking in the profits. I am not surprised at this, are you? It is the old adage about the richer getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Now, there is a bit of universal wisdom, and let us hope that no one can take a patent on it.
