Must be a West Coast thing going on - we’re @ 10 degrees warmer than the norm here. It hit 87 yesterday & 85 today…forecast is 74 & mostly cloudy tomorrow. That’s closer to normal here at this time.

It got quite warm this afternoon here in coastal Orange county, but it's cooling off now. I think it's supposed to be in the upper 60's during the next few days which will be a relief from the upper 70's/low 80's that we've been experiencing.

I found this forecast predicting unusual weather. I didn’t try to read for understanding!

Thanks food. It’s always nice to learn that apparent perceptions are real and not imagined. The last occurence of lightning a few years ago caused a big fire in the mountains above the beach town Santa Cruz.

Also, it was muggy today. Equally unusual

We are experiencing moisture from the south, resulting in unusual humidity for the area. I grew up in Houston and really enjoy these "humid" days in the Bay Area. Far less humid than the Gulf Coast with just enough moisture to make the air feel really soft on my skin. This weather would be seen as a fabulous fall day in Houston.

Ditto Lily. The lawns have been covered in brown leaves since July, and the apples fell way too early. Instead of getting finished off by the usual September frost, the pole beans are still producing so heavily that I've been sharing them with my Scrabble group, and my son took a large quantity of them to work to distribute to his co-workers. I'm getting tired of summer bedding and summer clothes . . .

We had on the Central Coast California thunder and lightning all night. That is extremly unusual. Also it stayed in the 60's overnight when it usually drops to the 50's. The temperatures have been all over the map.

ljrar, you're the first person I've ever encountered to express affection for outdoor heat and high humidity. For me and many others, humidity makes the air feel drenchingly wet and uncomfortable on our skin, not soft. But I'm glad you're happy with it.

For the benefit of readers elsewhere, it's still a bit muggier than normal today but the thunderstorms have moved on.

My comment above may be misleading as I reread it. I enjoy dry heat to almost any extreme, but I find elevated humidity with even moderate temperatures to be uncomfortable. We all like different things

Weather here is normal, except that we got a lot of rain this summer, which made for interesting vegetable gardening.

68F right now and partly sunny--no rain expected for a week! Yayyy!!!

Bugs are gone, autumn color is here, and no freezing at night yet. Life is good

Except: the wildfire smoke coming at us from Canada played havoc with lungs and sunshine. A real drag.

We've had unusual spates of heat here, near Chicago. It's unusual to have the A/C going this often. At least we're getting some rain now and then.

Haha Elmer. I enjoy the 70 degree + a little humidity weather currently happening in San Francisco in comparison to the 90+ degree heat with 90% humidity of Houston. I also prefer it to very dry weather we often have that can make me feel parched.

Our summer here has been fairly normal, adequate rainfall with only 2 days over 100F. Right now we're keeping an eye on those 2 tropical systems approaching the east coast, they're keeping the weather dudes scratching their heads on exactly what will happen by early next week. Potential major flooding in the Carolinas, again. We'll know soon enough.

ljwrar, you live in San Francisco and find it dry and parched? That's a new one for me too.

SF and starting a bit to the south, Big Sur/Monterey and then again on the Peninsula Coast and extending north to and into Oregon, has got to be the the dampest, foggiest stretch of earth I've ever experienced. In the city of SF especially.

You surely know that away from SF, around the Bay Area and inland north, east and south is more like normal temperate California weather, sunshine with limited rainfall and low relative humidity most of the year except on rainy days. Along the coast is something else.

It sounds like you've moved from one extreme (Houston) to another.
